The RoboUp Raccoon 2 SE robotic lawnmower is about to be launched – and aims to shake up the market for smart garden tools with its surprisingly simple operation and innovative technology. What is particularly exciting is that the manufacturer has dispensed with perimeter wire and RTK systems, which until now have often required expensive and complex set-up.
Highlights
- Launch of the Kickstarter offer: expected from November 11, 2025
- Price at the start of the campaign: already possible for less than 300 euros
- Setup: just set up the charging station and press the start button – automatic mapping via camera
- No boundary wire or app absolutely necessary
RoboUP Raccoon 2 SE: Wireless operation without intervention
The highlight of the new RoboUp model is the complete elimination of traditional installation work: Neither a perimeter wire nor an RTK GPS system should be necessary. This makes it particularly attractive for users who want to spend as little time as possible on technology.
At its core, the device is designed to navigate independently: After setting up the charging station, all you need to do is press a button on the device, whereupon it scans the surroundings using a camera module and generates a map. The manufacturers use image and sensor processing to detect obstacles and steer the lawn mower accordingly.
RoboUP Raccoon 2 SE: Can also be used without an app
An important aspect: the Raccoon 2 SE should also be able to work without an app. For many users, this means fewer entry hurdles – no downloading or configuring, just getting started straight away. Of course, an app option will probably still be available, for example for fine adjustments. There are currently hardly any technical specifications available, such as battery life, cutting width or maximum area coverage.
RoboUP Raccoon 2 SE: Crowdfunding and price structure
The RoboUp Raccoon 2 SE is being sold via Kickstarter – the launch is planned for November 11, 2025. If you pre-order early (by November 10), you can secure discounts with a small amount (approx. 20 euros deposit) and get the mower for less than 300 euros. You can access the offer via the official website.
Series production is set to begin at the end of December 2025, with shipments to supporters starting in January 2026 after the end of the campaign – depending on the region. According to retailer information, RoboUp will cover the customs costs for supporters in the EU, USA and UK.
Assessment and outlook
The RoboUp Raccoon 2 SE promises a “plug & play” experience for robotic lawnmowers: no wires, no need for an app, autonomous mapping – and at a comparatively low price. It could be an attractive option for many technology enthusiasts and smart home enthusiasts, especially in smaller gardens or for users who are simply looking for a low-maintenance solution.
Whether the concept works as promised in practice – especially on irregular terrain, narrow passages or complex obstacles – remains to be seen. RoboUP has already provided us with a model for extensive testing. You will soon be able to read what we think of this beginner-friendly robot mower at a low price in our test report.
