ROCCAT Vulcan II Max and Syn Max Air unveiled: New keyboard and headset

Turtle Beach has unveiled two new peripherals under its ROCCAT accessories brand. The ROCCAT Vulcan II Max expands the lineup of keyboards, while the Syn Max Air is a new gaming headset.

The ROCCAT Vulcan II Max in detail

The Vulcan II Mini kicked off the new model lineup about a month ago, and now the manufacturer is letting the new ROCCAT Vulcan II Max follow suit. Unlike the Mini model, it relies on a full-size layout, but comes with the same innovations and improvements.

It also sets a low build height including an aluminum plate and illuminated palm rest. Also new, of course, are the Titan II Optical Switches, which provide a mechanical feel with smooth action, as well as a 100 million keystroke life.

They are also compatible with many cross-shaped keycaps from various manufacturers, allowing the look and typing feel to be further optimized. After the Mini, de Max is also the second gaming keyboard to use Dual LED Smart Keys.

Offered are 24 multifunctional smart keys with a second LED that indicates the secondary function of the keys. Easy-Shift[+] key duplicator technology also unlocks a secondary mapping that can be programmed in virtually unlimited options.

Design and Lighting

Four megabytes of onboard memory let you store up to four profiles with different lighting on the ROCCAT Vulcan II Max. Also offered are an anodized aluminum plate and dedicated media buttons.

The new soft and translucent palm rest sets the stage for ROCCAT’s AIMO lighting technology. In doing so, the vibrant RGB lighting effects can be synced with other AIMO products to pair with the Kone XP Air or the new Syn Max Air headset, for example.

ROCCAT Syn Max Air: Wireless Gaming Headset

The ROCCAT Syn Max Air also joins a new wireless gaming headset. The over-ear headset is said to deliver a premium 3D wireless audio experience. It uses large and powerful 50mm Nanoclear drivers, which are responsible for the Waves 3D sound.

The TruSpeak noise-canceling microphone also promises crystal-clear intelligibility. Flip-to-mute functionality automatically mutes it when flipped up, and it can also be completely detached to turn the headset into headphones.

The Syn Max Air features a variety of audio presets, as well as Turtle Beach’s exclusive and patented Superhuman Hearing sound setting that amplifies critical in-game sounds.

High Comfort

The 326-gram gaming headset’s comfort shouldn’t be neglected either. For example, thanks to the exclusive ProSpecs, these are glasses-friendly and with cooling gel-filled memory foam ear cushions from Turtle Beach. The ear cups also fold flat.

The ROCCAT Syn Max Air also features intuitive audio controls on the ear for quick and easy sound customization, which can be individualized with the included Swarm software.

It features an RGB docking station with fast charging that provides three hours of playtime after just 15 minutes of charging, as well as high-quality aluminum earpieces for added durability, Bluetooth 5.1, and dual-wireless functionality for connecting to multiple devices.

The rechargeable battery is said to last for 16 hours after all. Moreover, the wireless gaming headset is compatible with many platforms, including PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices.

Up to 16.8 million colors of RGB lighting present themselves on both the headset’s translucent Bionic Shell earcups and docking station. The lighting can be synced with other AIMO-enabled devices using ROCCAT’s Swarm software.

ROCCAT’s Stellar Wireless technology controls the Syn Max Air’s signal strength and battery consumption for optimal performance, while dual-wireless connectivity lets you, for example, chat on your PC via Discord while listening to music from your smartphone via Bluetooth.
