The ROCCAT Vulcan TKL Pro (our review) is one of the best gaming keyboards on the market, not least thanks to its excellent switches. Now the manufacturer has introduced the ROCCAT Vulcan II Mini, a more compact quasi-successor that relies on numerous improvements.
The ROCCAT Vulcan II Mini in detail
The ROCCAT Vulcan II Mini adds the first 65-percent model to the series, making it even smaller than the TKL variant. It also marks the world’s first keyboard with “Dual LED Smart Key” technology.
This is of course particularly practical, as many keys are equipped with an alternative function, thanks to which the 65-percent keyboard offers more features than its compact dimensions actually allow. Thanks to the new feature, the 30 multifunction smart keys are equipped with dual-LEDs that make it easier to see when the secondary functions are active.
With the help of ROCCAT’s EasyShift, a second layer of functions can be programmed, allowing the keyboard to offer the same range of functions as a large keyboard.
New and improved TITAN II switches
The Titan switches were one of the highlights of the Vulcan series. The manufacturer has improved them once again with the ROCCAT Vulcan II Mini. The second generation of optical switches offers the same smoothness as well as a durability of 100 million keystrokes and is now optimized for compatibility with third-party keycaps. This means that if you have your own preferred keycaps at home, you can easily attach them.
At the same time, the transparent case has been improved to better showcase the lighting, while the coating is designed to provide even smoother movement. The TITAN II Optical Red/Linear Switches are equipped with smooth and instant actuation.
“The Vulcan II Mini is small in size and big on innovation. Another benefit of the 65% size is that with the extra five buttons, it’s ideal for people who want to spend their time working, creating and playing with the same setup,” reveals René Korte, ROCCAT founder and general manager of PC peripherals at Turtle Beach.
On the keyboard, you can store up to five profiles in internal memory and customize them with custom RGB lighting, key mappings and more. The anodized aluminum backplate provides structural integrity and sets the stage for ROCCAT’s AIMO RGB lighting technology.
