The Australian manufacturer Rode is primarily known for its high-quality microphones in the studio and mobile segment, which are aimed at professionals. With the Rode NTH-100, they have now presented the first specially developed headphones, which, despite a comparatively low price, is also intended for demanding users.
Rode NTH-100: Strong over-ear headphones presented
The Rode NTH-100 is an over-ear headphone that already makes a good impression on paper. 350 grams brings the exclusively wired headphones on the scale, which is to realize a balanced and accurate sound.
This is ensured by specially developed, high-quality dynamic drivers with a diameter of 40 mm, which cover a frequency band from 5 Hz to 35,000 Hz. With a sensitivity of 110 dB/V and an impedance of 32 ohms, the NTH-100s get pretty loud and should thus cut a good figure sonically on a smartphone.
High wearing comfort thanks to innovative features
At the same time, however, wearing comfort should not be neglected. For this purpose, high-quality Alcantara leather is used on the inside of the ear cups, as well as on the headband. Underneath is a layer of the specially developed CoolTech gel, which is to reduce the heat during prolonged wear and thus cool the ears.
At the same time, the ear cups rely on a unique, ergonomic design that mimics the shape of the human ear. It can be moved in two directions and, thanks to memory foam, adapts to your own ear shape. The FitLock system on the adjustable headband is also designed to ensure that the Rode NTH-100 rests securely on the head during rapid movements. Rode promises nothing less than “the most comfortable headphones ever”.
The 2.4-meter cable with 3.5-mm jack connector (TRRS) can be attached to either the left or right side of the bottom of the headphones. A 3.5 mm to 1/4-inch adapter is also included with the headphones by the manufacturer.
Price and availability
The Rode NTH-100 over-ear headphones are available in stores now. It is offered at Thomann or Alternate, among others. The manufacturer’s MSRP is 179.00 euros. More information about the headphones can be found on the manufacturer’s homepage.
