Rode NTH-100M: Professional over-ear headset presented

Manufacturer Rode adds a broadcaster-quality microphone to its NTH-100 over-ear headphones, introduced about a year ago, and launches the composite as the Rode NTH-100M.

The Rode NTH-100M in detail

From a technical standpoint, not too much changes between the NTH-100 and Rode NTH-100M, as the new professional headset builds on the over-ear headphones from last year.

“The NTH-100M headset features pair-selected drivers and a high-precision acoustic design optimized for incredibly straight frequency response, low distortion and extremely detailed sound,” according to the manufacturer.

40-millimeter drivers cover a frequency response of 5 Hz to 35,000 Hz, while the signal-to-noise ratio is said to be 67 dB. There is no ANC function, i.e. active noise cancellation. However, the headphones are supposed to be able to reduce noise by up to 20 dB(A) thanks to their excellent isolation.

Rode promises high wearing comfort, especially due to the comfortable ear cups, which are equipped with a layer of CoolTech gel. It is able to absorb and dissipate heat, cooling the head and ears.

The NTH-100M also features luxurious Alcantara ear cup and headband pads that are extra soft and breathable. Thanks to the slim, low-profile design, the headset is said to sit comfortably on the head and also perform well during videos and live streams.

Strong microphone in professional quality

.
The real innovation of the Rode NTH-100M, however, is the microphone, which is supposed to offer professional broadcast quality and provide a natural sound along with excellent suppression of plosive sounds.

From a technical standpoint, the microphone covers a frequency band from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz and relies on a sensitivity of 38 dB +/- 3 dB @ 1kHz.

Price and Availability

The Rode NTH-100M headset will be available in Germany in mid-February 2023. Amazon already lists the headset with a February 16, 2023 release date at a price of 220.90 euros. More details can be found on the official product website of the manufacturer.
