ROG Falchion Ace: E-Sports keyboard from ASUS presented

ASUS has introduced the ROG Falchion Ace, a compact e-sports gaming keyboard in the 65 percent format. The keyboard is supposed to score with mechanical ROG NX switches, intuitive controls and a special typing experience. Besides that, ASUS highlights the design of the new keyboard as a plus point.

Compact design

The ROG Falchion Ace has a particularly compact design. In terms of the available keys, it is a classic 65-percent keyboard. What is interesting here is the fact that ASUS accommodates this 65 percent of the classic key configuration in a case that is only minimally larger than that of a 60 percent keyboard. This is achieved by a clever combination of arrow and navigation keys. The relatively slim 305 x 101 x 38.5 mm keyboard is also equipped with RGB lighting and a transparent key cover. This can be used to protect the keyboard from dust and similar environmental influences. During use, it can be placed under the keyboard, resulting in diffuse lighting effects.

The ROG Falchion Ace also features a touch panel on the left side. This can be used to change the volume or to perform operations like copy and paste. Furthermore, it can be programmed as a macro key so that it can also be used for in-game commands. Furthermore, the keyboard’s basic equipment includes two USB-C ports on both sides of the rear edge. This allows the device to be connected to two PCs at the same time.

Mechanical switches and typing experience

At the heart of the ROG Falchion Ace are the ROG NX mechanical switches, which are also used on the ROG Azoth, which was unveiled at CES. They feature lubricated shafts and socket housings, which provides a smooth click feeling and prevents annoying noises from occurring. ASUS further speaks of a quick release design in regards to the switches that are used. The switches are also equipped with a stabilizer, which ensures that frequently used keys have the original typing feel for longer. This is particularly relevant in the gaming sector, for which the presented keyboard was developed. The key configuration is rounded off by PBT Doubleshot keycaps, which provide a high-quality feel. Key wobble is also significantly reduced by the keycaps that are used.
