Rollei action one: New actioncam with 4K60 and hardware image stabilization presented

With the Rollei action one, the manufacturer from Norderstedt in northern Germany has officially presented its new action camera top model. Interested users will be impressed by the numerous modes, high recording quality and many separately available accessories. In addition to 4K recordings with 60 frames per second, the effective hardware image stabilization in particular should convince.

The Rollei action one positions itself as a new top model in the action cam segment above already available variants. Videos are recorded by the camera in maximum 4K resolution at up to 60 frames per second, while the ultra-wide-angle “Ultra-4K” mode offers up to 30 fps. Slow-motion and time-lapse videos are possible at 120 FPS in Full HD resolution and up to 240 fps in 720p, respectively.

Images can be captured in Photo, Photo Lapse or Burst modes with up to 12 megapixels. This is made possible by the built-in Sony IMX377 sensor (1/2.3 CMOS) in combination with the Ambarella H22 S85 chip.

In addition, the action one features a six-axis gyroscope that additionally stabilizes videos via hardware image stabilization. Other video and photo modes offer creative possibilities. Also, videos and photos can be recorded simultaneously.

Operation with touchscreen and front display

The Rollei action one is operated via the high-resolution 2.33-inch touchscreen display on the back of the camera. On the front, there is also another display without touch functionality, which allows better selfie video and photo shooting on 1.3 inches.

Operating the camera and setting the modes is not only possible on the device, because the new action one is also controllable via app. Alternatively, the modes can also be operated with a separately available remote control in the form of a wristband.

The action one weighs just 116 grams including the battery and is very compact with dimensions of 6.45 x 4.45 x 3.06 cm. The rechargeable Li-ion battery has a capacity of 1,300 mAh and is said to last for 70-80 minutes of 4K video recording at 60 fps. The action cam is charged and connected via USB Type-C. Storage is on microSD cards up to a maximum of 64 GB of class 10 or higher.

Of course, the action one is also waterproof. Without the included protective housing up to five meters, with housing up to 30 meters. To make the underwater shots even more impressive, an underwater white balance can be set.

In addition to the camera, the extensive package includes a replaceable battery, waterproof housing, housing frame, lens cover, base mount, two 3M adhesive labels, curved and straight mount, USB-C cable, screw and quick start guide.
