Samsung at Gamescom 2026: Date, Location, and Theme

Gamescom 2026 will take place from August 26 to 30 at the Cologne Exhibition Center. According to Samsung, approximately 360,000 visitors attended last year; this year, around 1,500 software, hardware, and gaming content companies will be on site again. Samsung itself is participating under the theme #PlaySamsung and has expanded its booth space in Hall 9 by ten square meters compared to last year, bringing the total to 1,090 square meters. The booth is divided into four areas: the Odyssey Zone for monitors, storage, and headsets; the Galaxy Zone for mobile gaming; the Gaming Hub Zone for console-free cloud gaming; and the T1 Zone, which focuses on the partnership with the esports team T1.

“Gaming today is no longer just about playing; it encompasses high-quality, personalized experiences,” says Stephanie Choi, EVP and Head of the Global Brand Center at Samsung. The company aims to reinforce this commitment with a broad product lineup ranging from monitors to smartphones to cloud gaming.

Odyssey Monitors: The 6K Powerhouse G80HS and Two Other New Models

At the heart of the Odyssey Zone is the Odyssey G8 (G80HS), which Samsung unveiled back in May 2026 and is considered one of the world’s first 6K gaming monitors. The 32-inch model can be switched via Dual Mode: At full 6K resolution, it runs at up to 165 Hz; users who prefer maximum frame rates can switch to 3K at 330 Hz. The IPS panel supports G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium and, according to the manufacturer, offers a response time of 1 ms.

Samsung is also showcasing the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH), a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with 4K resolution and up to 240 Hz, as well as the Odyssey 3D (G90XF). The latter is the real standout in the lineup: Using eye-tracking and view-mapping algorithms, it generates a glasses-free 3D image, and an AI feature also converts standard 2D videos into 3D. It also features spatial audio via built-in speakers and colorful edge lighting along the bezel.

Model Size Resolution Refresh rate Panel Special Feature
Odyssey G8 (G80HS) 32 inches 6K / 3K (Dual Mode) 165 Hz / 330 Hz IPS First 6K gaming monitor
Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) 27 inches 4K up to 240 Hz QD-OLED 0.03 ms response time
Odyssey 3D (G90XF) 27 inches 4K 165 Hz IPS Glasses-Free 3D

On August 27, Samsung also plans to unveil the complete 2027 Odyssey series as well as new PSSD models. The manufacturer has not yet released any details; we will update this article as soon as specific information becomes available.

Mobile Gaming: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Galaxy Buds4 Pro

The Galaxy Zone is all about mobile gaming. There, Samsung is showcasing the foldable Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra as a gaming platform on the go, along with the Galaxy S26 Ultra featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. According to Samsung, both devices are designed to deliver enough performance for the latest mobile games without any noticeable throttling. Rounding out the lineup are the Galaxy Buds4 Pro, which feature a dedicated gaming mode with lower latency, as well as new, ultra-fast portable SSDs for data transfer between smartphones and PCs.

Among the games available for testing in this area are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Crimson Desert, Cyberpunk 2077, Cronos: The New Dawn, Genshin Impact, Asphalt Legends, and Honor of Kings—some of which can be played directly on the 6K monitor with HDR10+.

Storage and Sound: SSD 9100 Pro and JBL Gaming Headsets

The SSD 9100 Pro is designed to ensure fast load times; Samsung positions it as a particularly high-performance storage solution for modern gaming PCs. For audio, the company is relying on its subsidiary brand JBL: On display at the booth are the JBL Quantum 950 and the JBL Quantum 650, which Samsung promotes as “tournament-level audio.” Both models from the current Quantum series combine wired and wireless connectivity via 2.4-GHz radio and Bluetooth, feature 50-mm drivers, and offer spatial audio with head tracking.

TV, Cloud Gaming, and Neural Frame Fusion

In addition to PC and mobile gaming, Samsung is also demonstrating what gaming on a TV can look like. The Samsung OLED S95H on display at the booth features a new function called Neural Frame Fusion: AI generates additional image information in real time, which, according to Samsung, is designed to ensure smoother gaming while also improving energy efficiency. This is complemented by the Gaming Hub, Samsung’s cloud gaming platform, which allows games to be launched directly on the TV—without any downloads or an additional console.

At the Booth: T1 Partnership, Faker, and the PlayGalaxy Cup Finals

Arguably the most eye-catching part of the booth is the T1 Zone, named after the South Korean esports team with which Samsung is partnering. There, visitors can try out Faker’s (Lee Sang-hyeok) training gear and check out so-called spatial signage displays—three-dimensional representations of the T1 players that work without the need for glasses. The area also features a Korean PC café-style atmosphere, matches against gaming influencers, and an interactive racing feature.

The sporting highlight is the #PlayGalaxy Cup final in PUBG Mobile on August 27 and 28, where ten top teams will compete against each other. Using an accompanying app, visitors can also participate in missions and earn rewards such as Korean snacks. At the same time, Samsung will be offering special deals on its gaming lineup in 22 countries worldwide throughout Gamescom; details for Germany were not yet available at the time of publication.

Conclusion

With a larger booth, more products, and its own esports zone, Samsung is making it clear just how seriously the company now takes the gaming business. For PC gamers, the Odyssey G8—with its dual mode switching between 6K and 330 Hz—is likely to be of particular interest, while handheld and mobile gamers will be drawn to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Whether the announcements from August 27—most notably the new 2027 Odyssey series—are actually worth it remains to be seen until Samsung reveals specific specifications and prices. We’ll keep you updated on this.
