Samsung develops cameras that are better than the human eye

Samsung builds outstanding sensors for smartphone cameras. At 108 megapixels, we have already arrived at the point. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, for example, is equipped with it. However, Yongin Park, head of the Sensor Business Team at Samsung, now gives an outlook where we are headed.

From a technical point of view, the human eye has a resolution of 500 megapixels. Samsung wants to trump that. Yongin Park holds out the prospect of mobile camera sensors with 600 megapixels. These are not only intended for smartphones, but also for autonomous vehicles and drones. High resolution is particularly important here in order to capture all the details.

Of course, Samsung is not only interested in high megapixel values. The light intensity also improves over time. Some camera sensors also collect other information than we can see, such as the ability to detect skin cancer using ultraviolet light.

We are making great strides in camera development and we can be curious where we will be in the next few years.
