With the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G, the A series in the smartphone mid-range gets two exciting new additions. They are powered by a new processor, rely on large and flat displays and an enduring battery, and offer the smart cameras of the Samsung Galaxy series.
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G in detail
In the case of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, a 6.5-inch (16.40 cm) Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 hertz is used, while the smaller A33 5G relies on a diagonal of 6.4 inches and 90 Hz.
Nevertheless, the dimensions and weight are almost identical. The A53 measures 174.8 x 159.6 x 8.1mm and weighs around 189g, while the A33 5G weighs 186 grams and measures 74.0 x 159.7 x 8.1mm. In addition, the two new Galaxy A series models are now equipped with an enduring 5,000 mAh battery and a 25-watt super fast charging feature.
The device’s slim frame makes for a sleek, elegant look. The Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G feature durable Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and are water and dust resistant to IP67 standards. Both new devices offer up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades, as well as up to five years of security updates, which should extend the smartphone’s lifecycle and help protect the environment.
SoC and Memory
Samsung does not provide concrete details about the SoC of both smartphones, but reveals that the chip is a 5nm octa-core CPU with two 2.4 GHz and six 2 GHz cores. Presumably, it is the in-house Exynos 1280 – a significant improvement over the Snapdragon 778G installed in the predecessor A52s.
It is supported by either 6 or 8 GB of working memory in the case of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, while only 6 GB of RAM is planned for the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G. The internal storage is 128 GB or 256 GB (A53), while the A33 5G is only available with 128 GB of storage. However, this can be expanded via microSD card in both smartphones.
The cameras of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G
The Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G offer an advanced camera experience that is loaded with many of the powerful and fun features found on the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy A53 5G’s quad-camera system features a 64MP OIS camera with VDIS technology for sharp, blur-free shots. The high-resolution 32 MP front camera makes for great selfies and clear video calls.
Powered by a new 5nm processor, the AI-based camera of the new Galaxy A series ensures better images in low-light conditions. The improved night mode compared to the previous model automatically combines up to 12 images, so night photos are brighter and with less noise. And when shooting video in low-light environments, the Galaxy A series’ frame rate is automatically adjusted to provide bright, clear video.

Prices and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G will be available from April 01 in the Samsung Online Shop and in German stores. The Galaxy A33 5G will follow from April 22, 2022. Customers who pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy A53 5G in the Samsung Online Shop from March 17 to 31, 2022, can look forward to a 50-euro exchange bonus plus up to 180 euros in old device value as well as the Galaxy Buds Live White as a free gift when they trade in an old device.
