Samsung is getting its A series ready for 2026: With the Galaxy A57 5G and the Galaxy A37 5G, the South Korean manufacturer is launching two new mid-range smartphones that transfer AI functions from the more expensive S models to a more affordable price segment. The devices will be available in Germany from April 10 – albeit at higher prices than their predecessors.

Galaxy A57 and A37: Prices and availability

The Galaxy A37 starts at 429 euros (128 GB) and 519 euros (256 GB). The Galaxy A57 costs at least 529 euros (128 GB) and 589 euros for the 256 GB version. Compared to the 2025 generation, this means a surcharge of around 50 euros – a fact that is already causing discussion in the community.

Those who pre-order by April 18 will receive double the storage model for the price of the base model – i.e. 256 GB for the price of 128 GB. Samsung will be accepting pre-orders from April 1.

Design and display: Thinner, lighter, brighter

In terms of appearance, Samsung is primarily revamping the A57. At just 6.9 mm thick, it is half a millimeter thinner than its predecessor, the A56, and weighs just under 20 grams less at 179 grams. The A37 is somewhat bulkier at 7.4 mm and 196 grams.

Both models have a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 1,900 cd/m² – a significant leap from the previous 1,200 cd/m². The front and back are made of Gorilla Glass Victus+. Another new feature is the improved dust and water protection: both devices are now IP68-certified (previously IP67) and can therefore withstand up to 30 minutes in 1.5 meters of water.

A difference in the frame: The A57 has an aluminum frame, while the cheaper A37 has to make do with plastic.

Processor: Exynos for all

Samsung is switching the A series completely to Exynos chips this time. The A57 gets the brand new Exynos 1680 – an eight-core processor with one prime core (2.91 GHz), four high-end cores (up to 2.6 GHz) and three efficiency cores (up to 1.95 GHz). Compared to the Exynos 1580 in the A56, it has a faster GPU – particularly relevant for gaming and AI tasks.

The A37 gets the Exynos 1480, which was already used in the Galaxy A55 from 2024. Both chips use AMD graphics technology, which Samsung originally developed for its flagships. The RAM is 6 or 8 GB depending on the variant, the memory is 128 or 256 GB – and now all run in the faster LPDDR5X standard.

Camera: Proven, but with fine-tuning

There are no big surprises when it comes to the camera. The Galaxy A57 continues to rely on a 50 MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, supplemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5 MP macro lens. The front camera has a resolution of 12 MP.

The A37 follows suit with the main camera: It also gets a 50 MP sensor – but with larger pixels (1.0 μm instead of 0.8 μm), which should improve the light yield. At 8 MP, the ultra-wide-angle camera on the A37 lags behind the A57.

Exclusive to the A57: A Low Noise Mode for quieter night videos and the “Best Face” function, which automatically combines the most beautiful facial expressions from a series of shots to create a final image.

Battery and charging

Both smartphones come with a 5,000 mAh battery and support 45 watt fast charging. According to Samsung, the battery can be recharged to 60 percent in around 30 minutes. This means that the mid-range even beats the Galaxy S26, which only charges with 25 watts – a nice selling point for Samsung.

AI functions: Awesome Intelligence comes to the mid-range

A key selling point of the new A models are the AI features that Samsung has grouped together under the label “Awesome Intelligence”. Both smartphones run Android 16 and One UI 8.5 – as the first devices after the S26 series.

Specifically on board: Google’s Circle to Search including the new “Find the Look” function for virtual outfit try-ons, a transcription assistant in the voice recorder that converts conversations and voicemails into text, as well as AI Select for quick further processing of screen content. On top of this, there is the familiar object eraser and AI-supported image editing suggestions in the gallery.

Both models receive six years of Android operating system updates and six years of security updates – the same period as the Galaxy A56, but one year less than the S26 series.

Colors

The Galaxy A57 is available in Awesome Navy, Awesome Gray, Awesome Icyblue and Awesome Lilac. The A37 is available in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, Awesome Graygreen and Awesome White.

Conclusion: Solid mid-range, but the price increase hurts

The Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 are exactly what the A-series is traditionally known for: reliable everyday smartphones with reasonable features. The integration of AI features such as the transcription assistant or Circle to Search noticeably enhances both models, and the IP68 upgrade and slimmer design of the A57 are real improvements.

What is less pleasing is that the price increase of around 50 euros is difficult to justify in view of the modest hardware leaps. Anyone familiar with the Galaxy A53 5G and how much prices have risen in the A series will probably be rubbing their eyes.

If you are interested in the pricing of the Galaxy A57 and want to know when the price is likely to drop after the launch, you should keep an eye on idealo’s price guide.

If you don’t want to wait, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G will be available in stores from April 10. The pre-order promotion with free memory upgrade runs until April 18. If you’re also considering an S-Class device, you can take a look at our article on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series – it costs considerably more, but offers 7 years of updates and the exclusive Privacy Display.
