Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: Smartphone officially unveiled

Samsung officially unveiled a new version of the Galaxy S21 at CES 2022. The “Fan Edition” Samsung Galaxy S21 FE comes with powerful hardware and takes some fan requests to heart. It relies on an eye-catching design, strong performance and a convincing camera. We have summarized all the info.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G in detail

With the Galaxy S21 FE 5G, Samsung follows a consistent development based on the positive response of the Galaxy S20 FE and the S21 model series. The new Fan Edition is available in the colors olive, lavender, white, and graphite and is available in different configuration variants.

Visually, the smartphone is very reminiscent of the Galaxy S21 5G, but the camera hump is, as already assumed, in line with the rest of the case back. With a slim case of 7.9 millimeters, the S21 FE 5G easily fits into almost every pocket.

The display of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G is 6.4 inches and has a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD Plus). Samsung uses a dynamic AMOLED panel that can convince with particularly rich colors and high contrast rates.

A refresh rate of 120 hertz is offered for smoothly displaying content, while the 240 hertz touch-scan rate is supposed to ensure smooth responsiveness. The fingerprint sensor for unlocking is installed underneath the display. However, facial recognition via the front-facing camera is also possible as an alternative.

The built-in battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh and can be charged both via cable and wirelessly. With a maximum of 25 watts, or 15 watts for wireless charging, the charging speed is in the average range. NFC for contactless payment and the 5G mobile standard are also part of the package.

Galaxy S21 FE comes with Snapdragon 888

There is a positive surprise to report about the SoC, because the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE actually comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 – also in this country. The chip has a total of eight cores and is manufactured in a 5 nm process.

The processor is also supported by either six or eight GB of RAM. The internal storage is up to 256 GB, but cannot be expanded. The S21 FE has an IP68 rating and is thus protected against water and dust.

With dimensions of 74.5 mm x 155.7 mm x 7.9 mm and a weight of 177 g, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G is relatively compact and light. Samsung’s in-house One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 is used as the operating system.

The S21 FE 5G is equipped with a new privacy dashboard that combines security and privacy settings in one place, making using One UI 4 on the Galaxy S21 FE 5G as seamless as it is secure.

The S21 FE’s cameras

The S21 FE 5G is equipped with the same setup as the Galaxy S21. Meaning: on the back, you’re relying on a triple-camera setup that consists of a 12-megapixel main camera (f/1.8), a 12-MP super wide-angle camera (f/2.2), and a telephoto camera (f/2.4) with 8 megapixels.

The selfie camera sits in a punch hole at the top of the screen and comes in at 32 megapixels (f/2.2).

Price and Availability

The official sales launch for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G is scheduled for January 11, 2022. It starts at an MSRP of 749.00 euros for the version with 128 GB of storage. Doubling the storage results in a price of 819.00 Euros. The smartphone is offered via the Samsung online shop, network operators and online retailers. Those who pre-order the smartphone from Samsung’s store by January 10 will receive the Galaxy Buds2 in the same color as a free triple gift.
