The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones will be unveiled soon. The manufacturer has announced that a new Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on August 10, 2022, with a teaser image showing a foldable smartphone in the style of last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 to be unveiled on Aug. 10
Under the slogan “Unfold Your World”, Samsung will unveil its new foldable smartphones in a Galaxy Unpacked event on Aug. 10 at 3 p.m. German time. This fits the timing perfectly, since they showed the two current models Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and the surprisingly affordable Galaxy Z Flip3 5G almost exactly a year ago (on August 12, 2021).
Their successors, namely the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, were not explicitly mentioned in the invitation to the event, but their presentation is considered as good as certain.
It is also conceivable that Samsung could at least announce a low-priced Galaxy A foldable for less than 800 Euros, which has been the subject of rumors since the beginning of July. However, it is not expected to be released until 2024. But who knows: Maybe the Koreans still have one or two surprises up their sleeve?
However, the manufacturer is already stoking expectations for the new Galaxy Unpacked event, writing, “Be there live on August 10 when Samsung demonstrates how the company is pushing boundaries, overcoming conventions and opening the door to a new Samsung Galaxy mobile experience.”
That doesn’t necessarily sound like all we can expect is new chips and, in the case of the Z Flip 4, hopefully better battery life.
“The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked on August 10 won’t just be about what innovation can mean for technological advancement. But also about what you can achieve with it. Once again, we have been guided by our most important source of inspiration: Galaxy users* – always with the goal of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” reveals Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of MX Business at Samsung, in a blog post.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: What to expect?
On the US page for the new event, Samsung also shares an animation showing the folding mechanism of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. It only differs visually from its predecessor in nuances and was previously seen in render images published by the website 91mobiles.
Current rumors continue to talk about a 6.7-inch, 120 Hz AMOLED display including Full HD Plus resolution (2,640 x 1,080 pixels) with a correspondingly constant pixel density of 425 ppi. The camera setup is not supposed to change either; there is talk of a 10 MP selfie camera and a 12 MP dual camera at the back.
However, Samsung is supposed to use the brand-new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 from Qualcomm as the chip, which is supported by 8 GB of working memory and 256 GB of fast UFS 3.1 system storage. The battery still turns out comparatively small with a capacity of 3700 mAh, but it increases by 400 mAh compared to the Z Flip 3 in terms of size.
On the other hand, the external mini ticker display is said to grow to 2.1 inches in terms of size, compared to 1.9 inches in its predecessor. On the other hand, there are no details about the Galaxy Z Fold 4 at all so far. As always, the unconfirmed rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. But we don’t have to wait too much longer until the two foldable smartphones are unveiled.
