With the Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung opens a new chapter in the foldable segment and clearly positions the device as a flagship product for the mobile AI era. The tri-foldable smartphone combines a slim design with high-end hardware, a 10-inch display and Galaxy AI functions deeply integrated into One UI to take multitasking, creativity and media consumption to a new level. At the market launch in Korea on December 12, 2025, Samsung aims to demonstrate technological leadership in form factors and AI functions.
- Triple-foldable 10-inch display with 6.5-inch cover screen for everyday use.
- Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, 16 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage for top-class performance.
- 5,600 mAh three-cell battery with 45 W fast charging and 15 W fast wireless charging.
- Galaxy AI, DeX in standalone mode and sophisticated multitasking features for productive work.
Design, display and hardware
The Galaxy Z TriFold uses a multi-folding design with two hinges that transforms a slim premium smartphone into a 10-inch device as soon as both segments are unfolded. When folded, a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with up to 2,600 nits brightness and 120 Hz offers a full smartphone experience, while the inner 10-inch QXGA+ screen with up to 1,600 nits and adaptive 120 Hz serves as a tablet replacement for productive tasks and media consumption. The design measures just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point when unfolded and, at 309 g, remains within the limits of a high-end device despite three panels.
Samsung relies on a revised Armor-Flex hinge with a dual-rail structure that coordinates two hinges of different sizes to compensate for the asymmetrical weight distribution and create the most even folding feel possible. The titanium hinge cover and a frame made of Advanced Armor Aluminum are designed to provide additional stability, while a reinforced display structure with shock-absorbing layer and overcoat increases the durability of the double-folding main display. This is complemented by a ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer back, which keeps the device thin while improving resistance to cracking.
Under the hood is the Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm) adapted for Galaxy with 16 GB of RAM and either 512 GB or 1 TB of internal storage, which does not require microSD expansion. The 5,600 mAh three-cell battery is distributed across all three segments to ensure a balanced power supply and runtimes throughout the day. Around 50 percent is to be achieved in around 30 minutes via 45 W SuperFast Charging by cable, while Fast Wireless Charging with 15 W and Wireless PowerShare are still on board.
Camera, software and AI functions
On the back, Samsung has installed a 200-megapixel main module with optical image stabilization, flanked by an ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto module with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x space zoom via AI-supported super resolution. Two 10-megapixel selfie cameras – one in the cover display and one in the main screen – provide flexibility for video chats or content recordings at different angles. The combination of high resolution and multiple perspectives is clearly aimed at users who want to take photos as well as film and stream with one device.
On the software side, the Galaxy Z TriFold runs Android 16 and One UI 8, including Galaxy AI as a central feature set. Functions such as Photo Assist with Generative Edit and Sketch-to-Image allow AI-supported image editing directly on the device, including before and after comparisons on the large screen. Browsing Assist can summarize or translate website content, while Gemini Live uses multimodal AI to simultaneously process context from the camera, screen sharing and voice to provide design or purchase recommendations in real time.
A particular highlight is the standalone version of Samsung DeX, available for the first time on a smartphone, which runs directly on the 10-inch display without an external monitor. Up to four workspaces, each with five apps, can be used in parallel, with multi-window layouts, a taskbar for quick app changes and an extended mode with an external display enabling a kind of mobile desktop setup. In combination with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, the device is transformed into a compact work device that can partially replace classic laptop scenarios.
Entertainment, connectivity and suitability for everyday use
The TriFold shows off its form factor in entertainment use, for example when video apps run in full screen while comments, chat windows or second apps remain open in parallel. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with 120 Hz and Vision Booster optimizes display and contrast even in bright ambient light, which is particularly relevant for outdoor use. Minimized display creases should help to ensure that series, games and photos are affected as little as possible by visible crease lines.
In terms of connectivity, the device offers 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 as well as support for up to two nano-SIMs and multi-eSIM, depending on the market. An integrated capacitive fingerprint sensor on the side, IP48 certification against water and foreign bodies and Samsung Knox with Knox Vault form the basis for security and robust suitability for everyday use. The “Crafted Black” variant is available as a color option at launch, which underlines the premium claim, although the color selection remains deliberately limited at launch.
Price, availability and incentives to buy
Samsung will initially launch the Galaxy Z TriFold in Korea on December 12, 2025, with other regions such as China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the USA to follow. In South Korea, the price is around 3.59 million won, which corresponds to around 2,400 to 2,500 US dollars and clearly places the device in the absolute high-end segment. Samsung is also offering a six-month trial period for Google AI Pro including 2 TB of cloud storage and a one-off 50 percent discount on display repairs at launch to make the new form factor more attractive. Overall, the Galaxy Z TriFold is positioning itself as a technology carrier that justifies the high purchase costs with a very special form factor, powerful hardware and deeply integrated AI features.
