Samsung Odyssey G70B & G65B: New gaming monitors revealed

For gamescom 2022, Samsung released a its own showcase, which included the recently unveiled Samsung Odyssey Ark and the 990 Pro SSD. Also in attendance were the two new Samsung Odyssey G70B & G65B gaming monitors, which can also be seen in Samsung Gaming City (Hall 9, A030/B039).

The Samsung Odyssey G70B & G65B are the first monitors in the model range to use the in-house gaming hub and make use of the Smart TV platform. They can thus be used in the Microsoft Office 365 Cloud environment without a connected PC or laptop.

They also allow wireless connection to Windows PCs and notebooks, as well as Macs, and support Apple’s AirPlay 2. With the help of Samsung Dex, the smartphone can also be mirrored.

Streaming apps like Amazon Prime Video or Netflix are already preinstalled and can play content without additional connected hardware. Samsung has even thought of microphones and thus enables voice control with the help of Amazon Alexa and Samsung’s own solution Bixby. And thanks to the “Always On Voice” function, this is even possible when the monitors are turned off.

The Samsung Odyssey G70B is available in 28 and 32 inches and relies on a 4K UHD resolution with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response time of 1 ms (gray to gray). The flat IPS panel is Nvidia G-Sync compatible and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

The Samsung Odyssey G65B, on the other hand, is offered in 27 inches and 32 inches, achieves a refresh rate of 240 Hz and relies on a QHD resolution with a response time of 1 ms (gray to gray). It supports FreeSync Premium Pro and offers 1000R curvature.

Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia, and the Xbox app are offered on both monitors via the Samsung Gaming Hub. Both smart gaming monitors are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2022. The manufacturer has not revealed prices for the Samsung Odyssey G70B & G65B so far.
