Samsung is now giving Apple a run for its money. From now on, you will be able to make uncomplicated, contactless and, above all, fast payments with Samsung Pay. All you need is the appropriate smartphone. As soon as you want to pay something, you only have to make a swipe gesture, release the payment, and you have already settled your bill. But it’s not just the right smartphone that will make it possible. As with the great role model Apple Pay, Samsung Pay is now also possible to pay via smartwatch.
Now also possible on the smartwatch
The principle is also nothing new for Samsung. Thus, there have already been exclusive smartphones of the electronics company, which have offered a corresponding payment service. Now, however, it is no longer only possible to pay with the smartphone. The smartwatches of the South Korean company can now also be used for Samsung Pay. Starting today, March 4, 2021, you can use Samsung Pay on the following smartwatches:
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 3
- Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2
- Samsung Galaxy Watch Active
- Samsung Galaxy Watch
The use of the service is very simple. According to Samsung, this already begins with the activation. Within a few minutes, you should be able to make your smart watch ready for convenient contactless payment via Galaxy Wearable App. If you do not have Samsung Pay yet, you can also register via the app. This is also done in just a few steps.
Not just Samsung-exclusive
The fact that Samsung Pay can also be used on other smartphones with Android OS is probably particularly exciting. The basic prerequisite for this is, of course, Samsung’s in-house payment app. This does not only apply to other Android smartphones, but also wearables with the operating system. In this case, Android users get the same features that are open to Samsung users. One of the most exciting is probably “Splitpay”, which enables installment payments. To benefit from this, you simply have to activate the features via the Samsung Pay app.
Maximum security
Many are wary of contactless payments. Especially the addition of the small smartwatches is not quite kosher for some users. Yet, according to Samsung, there is nothing to worry about. According to the company, paying via smartwatch should also be as secure as it is with Samsung Pay via smartphone. And it should be at least as uncomplicated. All you have to do is first start the payment mode by pressing the “back button”. Shopping enthusiasts will be pleased that the corresponding security pin only has to be entered once. As long as the smartwatch is on the wrist, you do not have to type in the code again. As soon as the authorization has taken place, the smartwatch sends the payment information to the contract partner in encrypted form. You don’t need your smartphone even once during this process. The pin security ensures that you don’t have to fear unauthorized access to your payment information if you lose your watch. After all, you always have to enter a pin when the smartwatch is disconnected from your wrist. If you want to be on the safe side, you can of course block the Samsung Pay account via support at any time.
