Samsung shows glasses-free 3D gaming and HDR10+ GAMING at GDC 2026

Samsung is presenting new advances in gaming displays at the Game Developers Conference 2026. The focus will be on glasses-free 3D gaming and the further development of HDR10+ GAMING, which together should enable a particularly immersive gaming experience. The technology will be demonstrated with well-known titles such as Hell Is Us and Cronos: The New Dawn. At the same time, Samsung is further expanding its gaming ecosystem around the Odyssey monitor series and is working closely with leading game developers.

  • Glasses-free 3D gaming on the Samsung Odyssey 3D monitor
  • Support for new titles such as Hell Is Us and Cronos: The New Dawn
  • HDR10+ GAMING for dynamically optimized HDR display per scene
  • Expansion of the 3D gaming ecosystem to over 120 supported games by the end of 2026

Samsung Odyssey 3D takes glasses-free 3D gaming to a new level

With the Samsung Odyssey 3D, the manufacturer is presenting a gaming monitor that relies entirely on glasses-free 3D gaming. While previous 3D solutions often required special glasses or were associated with performance losses, Samsung’s approach is designed to offer a much more natural experience.

Technically, the effect is based on a combination of eye-tracking and view-mapping technology. The monitor continuously recognizes the position of the eyes and dynamically adjusts the 3D depth effect. This creates a spatial impression without the need for additional hardware. This real-time adjustment ensures that objects on the screen appear more vivid and movements remain stable even in fast-paced scenes.

The monitor combines this technology with a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a response time of 1 millisecond (GtG). This means that the display remains smooth and responsive, especially during action-packed games or fast camera movements. At the same time, the approach reduces typical problems of older 3D technologies, such as image flickering or eye strain.

At the presentation at GDC 2026 in San Francisco, Samsung will be showing several games that have been specially optimized for the new 3D system. These include the action-adventure horror game Hell Is Us from studio Rogue Factor and the survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn from Bloober Team. Both titles are intended to demonstrate the spatial gaming experience particularly clearly.

HDR10+ GAMING and new partnerships expand the gaming ecosystem

In addition to the focus on 3D gaming, Samsung is also driving the further development of HDR10+ GAMING. This technology automatically analyzes every scene and every single frame of a game to optimally adjust contrast, brightness and color dynamics. This improves the display of dynamic content and increases visual immersion.

HDR10+ GAMING has already been part of many Samsung Odyssey gaming monitors and compatible TVs with refresh rates above 120 Hz since 2022. At GDC 2026, Samsung will show how this technology will be more closely integrated with current gaming titles in the future.

Partnerships with game developers are an important part of this strategy. For example, Samsung is working with studio CD PROJEKT RED to integrate HDR10+ GAMING into the successful role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077. Developer Pearl Abyss is also supporting the technology: the upcoming open-world action game Crimson Desert will also use HDR10+ GAMING.

At the same time, Samsung is further expanding its Odyssey 3D Hub platform. This serves as a central environment for 3D-compatible games and already supports more than 60 titles. The library is set to grow to over 120 games by the end of 2026. Currently supported titles include The First Berserker: Khazan, Stellar Blade, Lies of P: Overture and MONGIL: STAR DIVE.

In addition to the Odyssey 3D, Samsung will also be showcasing other models from the series at the trade fair, including the Odyssey OLED G8 with 4K QD OLED and 240 Hz, as well as new high-performance monitors with extreme refresh rates for competitive gaming.

Conclusion

Samsung’s presentation at GDC 2026 underlines its ambitions in the field of gaming displays. In particular, the glasses-free 3D gaming of the Samsung Odyssey 3D shows what immersive display technologies could look like in the future. In combination with HDR10+ GAMING and new partnerships with game developers, a growing ecosystem of compatible games and displays is emerging. Specific prices for the Odyssey 3D have not yet been announced, but Samsung is planning to expand the monitor range – including a new 32-inch model to be released later this year.
