Samsung SmartThings update brings Philips Hue Sync support

Smart Home devices from the Korean manufacturer are controlled with their own app, which is now apparently to receive a huge update with several improvements. The new Samsung SmartThings update brings Philips Hue Sync support for TVs and a multi-window mode, among other things.

More than 62 million people use Samsung SmartThings for smart-home control of compatible devices from the manufacturer such as TVs, soundbars, washers, dryers and more. Now we’re apparently in for a huge Samsung SmartThings update, as SamMobile reports.

It says the new update should offer support for Samsung’s new smartphones, which they will release in the second half of 2022. Namely, the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4. Including support for Android 13 and Samsung’s new user interface One UI 5.0.

The Samsung SmartThings update is also supposed to include a multi-window mode for easier operation. Thus, you can access the app and use another program at the same time, which is of course especially interesting for larger displays and tablets. The new support for Philips Hue Sync is also exciting.

Those using smart lighting in the Philips Hue ecosystem should be able to sync it with content on TVs and displays, as well as music from soundbars and stereos, thanks to Sync support with the upcoming Samsung SmartThings update, the report says.

According to the report, the smart lights will light up in sync with content on Samsung devices, as well as get brighter and dimmer. A wake-up routine will also be offered, according to SamMobile, with the lights gradually getting brighter to simulate the sunrise and gently wake you up.

Furthermore, the upcoming app update is expected to bring some visual changes that will spruce up the SmartThings interface. There is no specific date for the Samsung SmartThings update yet. It can be assumed that it will be released in August 2022 after the new product launches from Samsung.

Now that the 2022 model series of Samsung TVs has been given an exciting new cloud gaming feature, the next hot feature is already waiting in the wings. Signify also recently announced new products in the Philips Hue series, including bathroom and bedroom lights, for example, as well as a multifunctional switch called the “Philips Hue Tap-Dial.”
