Will we still use physical game consoles like PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X at all in a few years? In the meantime, there are many industry experts who assume that cloud gaming will soon be predominant. All you need is a streaming-capable device and a stable and sufficiently strong Internet connection. After Google with its Stadia service and Nvidia with its GeForce Now counterpart established two big brands on the cloud gaming market, Samsung now also wants to enter. All it probably takes is the purchase of a current TV from the South Korean tech company.
Cloud gaming for Samsung’s 2022 TVs
Unfortunately, not all owners of a Samsung TV can now be happy about being able to comfortably gamble on their own TV from now on without an additional device. Only those who have a current Samsung TV from 2022 can enjoy the comfortable gaming experience. To use the so-called Gaming Hub, you then simply have to download the app of the same name. Once in it, you’ll then get access to the most reputable cloud gaming providers.
Joining the party are GeForce Now and Google Stadia, as well as Utomik and Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming. Samsung also wants to integrate the cloud gaming portal “Amazon Luna”, which is to be launched soon. Consequently, Samsung should not be seen as its own cloud gaming provider now. The South Koreans rather want their “Gaming Hub” to be a practical interface for the most important portals.
Gaming of the future?
There are several reasons for relying more on cloud gaming in the future. For the user himself, this principle is often more convenient. After all, you don’t need a powerful, large gaming computer or game console. The cloud gaming device simply draws the required performance for graphics and the like from the cloud. This is accessed via the Internet. Consequently, the gaming experience stands and falls with the quality of the Internet connection.
In view of the still rampant chip crisis, this principle makes perfect sense from another point of view as well. After all, valuable semiconductors are also needed to manufacture graphics cards and processors that are used in gaming PCs and game consoles. The lack of high-end graphics cards, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is no coincidence. Cloud gaming can do without them without further ado. Just how valuable semiconductors currently are can be felt, among other things, in the gigantic factory plans that chip manufacturer Intel is planning in Magdeburg, for example, but also in the USA.
Works with popular controllers
Samsung has adapted the chip technology of its 2022 models to interact with the most popular controllers. Consequently, you can also stay loyal to your favorite input device. If you take a look at the gaming hub, it also looks wonderfully clear. All in all, the cloud gaming providers will probably profit most from the cooperation. However, we dare to doubt whether this will already be noticeably reflected in increasing user numbers this year. After all, the app can only be used for the latest models from 2022. However, there could be a lot of new cloud gaming fans over time.
