Schenker: New notebooks Work 15, Work 17, as well as Key 15 and Key 17 unveiled

Hardware manufacturer Schenker has introduced a total of four new notebooks. The Work 15 and Work 17 models are primarily aimed at business users and are equipped with the latest Tiger-Lake H35 CPUs up to Intel Core i7-11370H. Schenker relies on high-performance hardware in a particularly slim design for the Key 15 and Key 17 models.

SCHENKER WORK 15 / WORK 17: Strong features, big battery

Schenker positions itself with the new Work series with good all-round performance and modern equipment options in the office and multimedia segment. An Intel Core i7-11370H including an integrated Xe graphics unit is at work in the top configuration variants.

Schenker Technologies also offers configurations with the Core i5-11300H. A completely new design is the 17.3-inch SCHENKER WORK 17, which turns out quite slim with 395 x 250.7 x 19.8 mm and a weight of 2.25 kg.

In contrast, the SCHENKER WORK 15 with 357 x 220.5x 19.9 mm and a light 1.75 kg externally corresponds to the office laptop already introduced at the beginning of the year, which was previously only available with a Core i7-1165G7 or i5-1135G7. Both the 15.6 and the 17.3 inch WORK have an aluminum display lid and bottom shell, and thus most of the case, which contributes to a simple, elegant design. Thanks to a 73 Wh battery, the laptops last for more than one workday.

In terms of the display, both models rely on a matte and PWM-free IPS panel with Full HD resolution, 90% coverage of the sRGB color space and a brightness of 300 (WORK 15) and 350 cd/m² (WORK 17), respectively. A special hinge at the bottom edge of the display raises the laptop by 8.3 (WORK 15) or 12 millimeters (WORK 17) at the back.

Safe and well equipped

As a result, the multi-level backlit keyboard is in an ergonomically favorable, slightly angled position, which significantly increases input comfort. While the WORK 15 has a Microsoft Precision touchpad with fingerprint reader, the WORK 17 does without the biometrics feature, but brings along an above-average touchpad with 150.8 x 90.8 mm. Both laptops integrate a Windows Hello-compatible webcam on the display’s upper edge and support hardware TPM-2.0 in the form of a corresponding module.

Up to 64 GB DDR4-3200 in dual-channel mode and two M.2 SSDs find room in the WORK models. The primary SSD slot is connected via four PCIe 4.0 lanes. External peripherals can be connected via three USB ports including USB-C 3.2 Gen2, HDMI, Thunderbolt 4 or a 2-in-1 audio port. Network traffic runs via either Gigabit Ethernet or Wi-Fi 6, and beyond that, the laptops offer a microSD card reader.

SCHENKER KEY 15 / KEY 17 with Core i7-11800H and RTX 3080

The Schenker Key 15 and Key 17 notebooks are even more powerful. Here, the manufacturer also relies on an elegant design and the predominantly aluminum case. The L21 model generation brings a change from the previously installed Intel Core i7-10870H to the new i7-11800H with eight cores and 16 threads, as well as graphics cards up to the GeForce RTX 3080 in a version optimized for the slim design with a TGP of 105 watts (90 watts plus 15 watts Dynamic Boost). Schenker also installs a display that operates PWM-free with 60 Hz, with the exception of the 4K OLED version.

The RTX 3080 is only available in combination with color-calibrated, X-Rite certified UHD displays. In the KEY 15, SCHENKER relies on an OLED panel with 400 cd/m2 as well as 100 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB and DCIP3 color space, and in the KEY 17 on a 4K IPS panel with also 400 cd/m2 and 100 percent Adobe RGB color space coverage.

The variant with an RTX 3070 is available in combination with both the UHD and Full HD IPS displays with 144 Hz, which are also color calibrated and X-Rite certified. Here, the brightness is over 300 cd/m2, while a 95% sRGB color space coverage is achieved. SCHENKER only offers the RTX 3060 as an entry-level option for the KEY 15 with Full HD display.

Size, battery and port selection

The two Key notebooks also turn out compact: At 357.9 x 238 x 19.8 mm and 2 kg (KEY 15), and 395.9 x 264.95 x 19.9 mm and 2.3 kg (KEY 17), both models are portable and each offers a 73 Wh battery. In addition to up to 64 GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 SODIMM RAM, two M.2 slots provide ample SSD storage if desired, and the primary slot uses a PCIe 4.0 connection over four lanes.

Thunderbolt 4 with an integrated DisplayPort stream, a G-SYNC-compatible Mini DisplayPort and an HDMI output allow connecting a maximum of three additional external monitors. Beyond that, the manufacturer gives the Key notebooks three USB A 3.2 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 as well as separate connections for headphones (headset compatible) and microphone, whereby the microphone input additionally functions as S/PDIF output. Both the KEY 15 and KEY 17 use a backlit keyboard and Microsoft Precision touchpad. However, while the 15.6-inch model relies on a glass touchpad, the 17.3-inch version uses a conventional model with a fingerprint reader.
