Schüco wireless sensor for windows and doors with Matter over Thread

With the new Schüco wireless sensor, the topic of Smart Home at the window becomes much more elegant. The manufacturer from Bielefeld, known for its system solutions for windows, doors and façades, presented a compact sensor at the Fensterbau Frontale trade fair in Nuremberg, which disappears completely out of sight in the frame when closed. Schüco relies on the current smart home standard Matter over Thread – positioning itself alongside manufacturers such as Maco, Siegenia and WAGO.

Schüco wireless sensor: invisible installation in the window rebate

In contrast to many conventional window contacts, which are visibly glued to the frame, the Schüco wireless sensor is installed directly in the window rebate. A magnetic contact in the corner guide or transom rod detects whether the window is open or closed and reports the status to the Smart Home system. This works both in new builds and when retrofitting existing PVC-U windows.

The sensor fits in all Schüco windows with VarioTec Advanced hardware. A pivot adapter is included for other common PVC-U windows with Euro fittings. If there is not enough space inside the frame, the sensor can also be mounted on the frame in the traditional way. According to Schüco, the wireless sensor was developed and produced entirely in Germany.

Matter over Thread for cross-platform smart home integration

Schüco has dispensed with proprietary solutions for the wireless technology and instead relies on Matter as the communication standard and Thread as the network protocol. This means that the sensor can be integrated into standard smart home systems across all manufacturers – provided that a compatible Thread Border Router is available. Anyone interested in DIY smart home projects knows the advantages of such open standards.

In everyday life, this opens up numerous automation options: The heating can be turned down automatically when a window is opened for ventilation. Push notifications provide real-time information about the opening status – practical for parents who want to know whether their children have arrived home safely.

Integrated burglary protection through acceleration sensor

In addition to the pure status message, the Schüco wireless sensor offers a special security feature: an integrated acceleration sensor detects vibrations, such as those that occur during mechanical break-in attempts. In such a case, a loud signal tone sounds directly at the window – completely independently of the Smart Home system. The local alarm signal is intended to deter potential burglars before they even get inside the building.

Availability and price of the Schüco wireless sensor

The Schüco wireless sensor was presented at Fensterbau Frontale at the end of March 2026 and has already received Matter certification. It will be sold via specialist dealers – in both a B2B and a B2C version. Schüco has not yet communicated a specific end customer price. Further information can be found on the official Schüco website.

With the new wireless sensor, Schüco is positioning itself in a growing market: more and more German window construction companies such as Maco and Siegenia are relying on Matter over Thread to make their products fit for the networked home. The invisible installation and local alarm function make the Schüco wireless sensor a particularly interesting candidate for anyone who wants to expand their smart home inconspicuously.
