With the Scythe Magoroku CPU cooler, the manufacturer is pursuing a much more performance-oriented approach than with previous models. While series such as the Mugen 5 were primarily known for their easy installation and solid all-round performance, the Magoroku focuses on maximum heat dissipation.
The new cooling concept is based on a “Full Straight Up Twin Tower Dual Fan” design. The straight heat pipes are designed to significantly accelerate the heat transfer from the processor to the cooling fins. This design reduces thermal delays and minimizes heat build-up within the fin structure.
The revised fin layout is particularly interesting. The newly designed cooling fins shorten the heat paths within the cooling tower and ensure faster heat distribution. This improves efficiency, especially during peak loads, which often occur with modern multi-core processors.
With dimensions of 134 x 142.5 x 154 millimeters, the cooler remains compact enough for many mid-tower cases despite its dual-tower design. The weight of 1,036 grams including fan is within the typical range of high-performance air coolers and seems plausible in view of the design.
The socket support also meets current market requirements. Intel’s new LGA 1851 platform as well as older LGA 1700 and 1200 sockets are supported. On the AMD side, AM5 and AM4 are compatible. This means that the cooler covers practically all relevant desktop platforms.

Scythe relies on an optimized 1:15 blade-stroke ratio. This design reduces deformation of the fan blades at high speeds and improves the static pressure at the same time. The specified 2.45 mmH₂O seems realistic for this fan class and sufficient for a dense blade structure.
With a maximum noise level of 26.88 dBA, the Magoroku is clearly positioned in the silent segment. Anti-vibration pads and the sealed Precision FDB bearing also support quiet operation. This is a relevant advantage, especially for systems that need to combine high performance and low noise levels.
The flexible fan mounting is also practical. Both fans can be adjusted in height, which improves compatibility with high RAM modules. Standard 120 mm fans can also be used as an alternative.
The new Hyper Precision Mounting System VII (H.P.M.S. VII) promises simplified mounting with optimum contact pressure. This combination of user-friendliness and performance is particularly important in the DIY segment.
