Seagate launches worldwide sales of 32TB hard drives for NAS, video analytics and data centers

The rapid increase in data-intensive applications is placing new demands on modern storage solutions. AI-supported video analysis, edge computing and hybrid cloud infrastructures in particular mean that capacity and scalability are increasingly coming into focus. Seagate is responding to this with an important step: 32TB hard drives are now being delivered to channel and retail partners worldwide. The new drives are part of the established Exos, SkyHawk AI and IronWolf Pro series and are aimed at professional applications ranging from home servers to data centers.

  • 32TB hard drives now available worldwide via retail partners
  • New capacity level for Exos, SkyHawk AI and IronWolf Pro
  • Designed for AI workloads, video analytics, NAS and cloud infrastructures
  • Prices start at 699.99 US dollars depending on model

Seagate 32TB hard drives expand storage limits for AI and video workloads

With the new 32TB models, Seagate is underlining its position in the market for mass storage solutions. This is primarily due to the strong growth of AI-supported video applications. According to current forecasts, the volume of video data in many organizations will at least double within the next five years. This is due to additional metadata, analyses and AI-generated content being added to each individual video frame.

The new Seagate 32TB hard drives continue to rely on CMR technology and are based on architectures that are already in use in hyperscale cloud environments. The aim is to make these high capacities accessible to companies, system integrators and professional users. Thanks to the enormous storage density, AI workloads can be scaled efficiently without unnecessarily fragmenting the infrastructure. Especially in hybrid and multi-cloud scenarios, this creates a consistent storage basis – from the edge to the data center.

Another advantage of classic hard disks is their cost-effectiveness. Despite the growing spread of SSDs, HDDs offer a significantly better ratio of capacity, costs and energy efficiency for large amounts of data. Seagate is therefore positioning the 32TB drives as a central element for long-term archiving, continuous video recording and data-intensive analysis processes.

Three product lines, three application scenarios: SkyHawk AI, IronWolf Pro and Exos

Seagate is not limiting the 32TB capacity to a single product, but introducing it across multiple series. The SkyHawk AI 32TB is primarily aimed at video surveillance and edge security solutions. It is optimized for AI-enabled NVR systems and can process more than 10,000 hours of video footage including analytics. Features such as SkyHawk Health Management and a five-year warranty including Rescue Data Recovery Services underline the focus on reliability in continuous operation.

The IronWolf Pro 32TB is designed for NAS systems in companies, studios and demanding home environments. With a workload of up to 550 TB per year, AgileArray firmware and continuous 24/7 operation, it is suitable for creative workflows, local AI applications and large data collections. Seagate also offers a five-year warranty and integrated health monitoring.

Finally, the Exos 32TB forms the backbone for cloud and enterprise data centers. It offers particularly high energy efficiency, a data density of up to 3 TB per platter and is designed for big data, AI and hyperscale scenarios. The use of proven components is intended to ensure long-term stability and sustainable operation.

Conclusion: 32TB as the new benchmark for high-capacity storage suitable for mass production

With the worldwide launch of the 32TB hard disk drives, Seagate is setting a new benchmark in the field of classic mass storage. The wide availability via SkyHawk AI, IronWolf Pro and Exos ensures that different application areas from video surveillance to data centers benefit equally. The drives will be available from January 14, 2026 via authorized retail partners. The recommended retail prices are 699.99 US dollars for SkyHawk AI, 729.99 US dollars for Exos and 849.99 US dollars for IronWolf Pro.
