With a new collaboration, Higround is expanding its portfolio with an eye-catching and versatile gaming keyboard series. Together with Sega, a collection has been created that combines iconic gaming history with modern demands on mechanics, workmanship and design. A total of five different designs are spread across four keyboard models and range from colorful Sonic nostalgia to deliberately reduced aesthetics. The simple Shadow variant in particular stands out clearly from the usual gaming look and sets new accents in the field of stylish peripherals.

Sega x Higround gaming keyboard collection combines retro gaming with modern minimalism
The Sega x Higround gaming keyboard collection focuses on the balance between fan service and contemporary design. Four of the five variants take up familiar motifs from the Sonic universe, but implement them differently. While some models have a deliberately playful design, others take a much more minimalist approach. Two keyboards largely dispense with classic key lettering, giving them a particularly tidy appearance.
A good example of this is the Shadow the Hedgehog edition. It is based on the Basecamp 65HE and uses a compact 65 percent layout. Function keys are missing, but full arrow keys are retained – a compromise that saves space without severely restricting everyday usability. The lettering is located on the underside of the keycaps, leaving the top virtually free of text. The legibility is supported by integrated RGB lighting, which shines discreetly through the PBT keycaps.

The blue Sonic variant with 75 percent layout follows a similar path. It combines restrained Sonic CD graphics with blue keycaps and does without a numeric keypad, but offers function keys instead. Both models are clearly aimed at users who are looking for gaming peripherals that also blend in visually with minimalist setups and are not immediately recognizable as classic gaming accessories.
Different models, premium materials and an eye-catching Dreamcast edition
In addition to the simple variants, the collection also includes much more eye-catching designs. The “Classic Sonic” model is the only keyboard in the series with a full numeric keypad and specifically appeals to fans of classic layouts. Visually, it is strongly oriented towards the early Sega era and deliberately focuses on retro elements. The “Escape from the City” design is also more colorful and picks up on familiar visual motifs from the games.
However, the clear top model in the series is the Sega x Higround Dreamcast Edition. It is based on the Summit 65+ and differs not only visually but also technically from the other keyboards. The housing is partly made of metal, which makes it heavier and gives it a particularly stable appearance. A transparent shift key and RGB light strips on the side subtly reference the design of the legendary Dreamcast console.
In terms of technology, this version uses mechanical HG flash switches, which are designed for fast actuation and a precise feel. The other models also rely on mechanical switches and durable PBT keycaps. The main differences are in the layout, housing material and additional features, which explains the wide price range within the collection.
Conclusion: Stylish collector’s items with real everyday use
The Sega x Higround gaming keyboard collection is an unusually versatile mix of nostalgia, high-quality technology and modern design. The series appeals to fans of classic Sega games as well as lovers of minimalist peripherals. All models are now available directly from the Higround online store. Four variants cost between 169.95 and 189.95 US dollars, while the elaborate Dreamcast edition is priced significantly higher at 299.95 US dollars.
