Sennheiser HD 450SE: Fancy BT headphones get Alexa support

Sennheiser has introduced a new pair of headphones. The HD 450SE should look familiar to connoisseurs, at least visually. The audio expert from Germany has a new edition of the HD 450BT in the wings. The very good sound of the standard version should still be present in the special edition. A special feature, however, is the addition of the extensive Alexa features. Amazon’s voice assistant is primarily supposed to ensure uncomplicated operation of the headphones. We take a closer look at the wireless over-ears.

Very good performance

In the Special Edition, much remains the same. Thus, the new edition with Alexa support should also be able to offer deep bass and crystal-clear trebles. The battery life is also convincing on the data sheet. The headphones are supposed to guarantee up to 30 hours of music enjoyment. The positive overall picture is rounded off by Bluetooth 5.0. Music connoisseurs will be pleased with the closed design of the HD 450SE.

This should be able to provide in combination with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) for undisturbed listening to music, podcasts & Co. Sennheiser does not compromise on the codec either. Thanks to AAC and aptX, a very high sound quality can be achieved wirelessly. Enjoying movies, series and/or games should also be possible without loss and with the best synchronization of sound and picture. Here, Sennheiser relies on aptX Low Latency.

Now with Alexa button

The key difference between the HD 450BT and the new HD 450SE is the dedicated voice assistant button. Here, the commonly known Alexa from Amazon is used. But of course, other assistants like Google Assistant or Apple’s Siri can also be used. You can open the respective artificial intelligence and get active support at the push of a button. Of course, there are also other controls on the earpieces. You can use them to accept or reject phone calls and control music playback.

You can use the Smart Control app from Sennheiser to adjust the sound of the headphones to your personal preferences. Here, a clear equalizer is to be used. The option to select different sound modes also sounds particularly practical. For example, there is a special mode for podcasts. On top of that, you can display the HD 450SE’s battery status within the app.

Less is more

Design is always a matter of taste. Fortunately, Sennheiser stays true to its unexciting look of other model series with its HD 450SE. However, this by no means means that no high-quality materials are used here – Quite the opposite. Once again, the audio company relies on workmanship at the highest level. The scope of delivery is impressive. Besides the headphones themselves, a USB-C cable is used for charging and a separate audio cable for music enjoyment with a wired connection. To make sure that the HD 450SE are also suitable for on the go, Sennheiser also includes a practical carrying case.

Price and Availability

You can buy the new Sennheiser HD 450SE now at an MSRP of 199.00 euros. So far, sales are taking place exclusively at Amazon or directly at www.sennheiser.com.
