Sennheiser Momentum 4 Leak: All info on the new over-ear headphones

Sennheiser is preparing to launch its new wireless over-ear headphones. After the Earbuds Momentum True Wireless 3 in April, they released a teaser of the new over-ear model in June. Now, a Sennheiser Momentum 4 leak provides more details on the technology, price and more.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 Leak: Info on the headphones

Even before the new over-ear headphones are expected to be available worldwide in August, a new Sennheiser Momentum 4 Leak provides the most important technical details. It comes from Canadian retailer Canada Computers, which not only reveals the final design, but also provides details on the technology.

According to this, the fourth generation is visually very different from its direct predecessor Momentum 3, which is currently available at Amazon, for example, heavily reduced for 284.31 Euros. Visually, the new edition is very similar to Sony’s models, namely the WH-1000XM5 or the Bose QuietComfort 45 (our review) and does without the obvious metal bracket.

In addition, Sennheiser now also seems to be unable to fold the headphones completely, which also results in a much larger transport case. With the 3rd generation, the headphones could be switched on or off automatically by folding them.

An image of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Leak also shows that in addition to the USB-C cable for charging, a 3.5 mm jack cable, as well as an airplane adapter are also included.

What technology does the Sennheiser Momentum 4 offer?

Already confirmed by Sennheiser is the battery life of 60 hours, which marks a huge upgrade compared to the previous generation. Also on offer is advanced adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) and, according to the leak, a corresponding transparency mode.

The sound coming out of the new “audiophile-inspired” 42-mm transducer system can also be customized. In addition, according to the report, there is a Smart Pause function that automatically pauses playback when the headphones are removed.

The packaging of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 provides additional details about the technology and the codecs. On the side, it talks about the support of the Bluetooth audio codecs aptX and aptX Adaptive from Qualcomm. This at least promises a maximum quality of 96 kHz and 24 bits at 420 kbit/s.

The new audio standard Bluetooth LE Audio, however, is apparently still missing, but it should possibly be possible to retrofit it.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 price and availability

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Leak also speaks of a price of 449.95 Canadian dollars, which is equivalent to just under 378 euros. This puts it on par with the Momentum 3, which launched at an MSRP of 399 euros at the time.

Sennheiser has already confirmed that the Momentum 4 will be available worldwide in August 2022. An official unveiling, which will really reveal all the details, should thus be in the offing in just a few days.
