Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless: All info on the new ANC headphones

Sennheiser has finally let the cat out of the bag and unveiled the new Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphones after the design and some features were already leaked about a week ago. We have summarized all the info and details about the over-ear headphones.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless in detail

With the new Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, the manufacturer wants to raise the bar in all areas once again. Thus, they want to have improved the iconic Sennheiser Signature sound even further with the new over-ear top model.

To achieve this, the headphones rely on a driver with a diameter of 42 mm, which are supposed to cover a comparatively huge frequency band from 6 Hz to 22,000 Hz. In active mode, the impedance is 470 ohms, while passively it is 60 ohms.

A new and particularly advanced ANC (active noise cancellation) is also offered, which reacts adaptively to the noise level of the environment. Of course, there’s also a transparency mode that lets the ambient noise through more intensively, which should also allow conversations with the headphones on.

However, tests will have to show how well both modes can keep up with the top dog, namely the Sony WH-1000XM5. On the other hand, the sound of the Momentum 4 can be strongly individualized with the help of the Sennheiser Smart Control app. Various equalizers, different sound modes and a brand-new sound personalization function are available for this purpose.

Also improved, according to the manufacturer, are the microphones, which are arranged in a new 2×2 digital beamforming array and automatically suppress wind noise. This is thus said to ensure clear and detailed voice recording, for example during phone calls or exchanges with voice assistants.

New design, 60-hour runtime

The design of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless has also been fundamentally revised, which, according to the manufacturer, is intended to score points primarily through significantly improved comfort. Thus, one promises a particularly lightweight design and a soft padding on the head.

Visually, the fourth generation is more modern, but not quite as stylish as its direct predecessor. However, the headphones are no longer foldable, the ear cups can only be turned inwards, which is why the included transport case is correspondingly large.

Operation is done with the help of touch gestures on the touch-sensitive outer sides of the ear cups. Smart Pause pauses playback when the headphones are removed and resumes it when they are put back on.

The battery life is also excellent, which Sennheiser puts at 60 hours. In addition, there is a quick-charge function that adds another six hours of runtime in just ten minutes. If you put the headphones aside, the automatic on/off function activates the energy-saving mode when the headphones are not in use.

Wirelessly, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless communicates in the modern Bluetooth 5.2 standard and supports the SBC and AAC codec as well as the high-resolution variants aptX and aptX adaptive from Qualcomm. Bluetooth Multipoint also allows multiple playback devices to be connected at the same time
