The popular gaming keyboard Sharkoon PureWriter (our review) is still one of the most popular keyboards of its kind with its mechanical low-profile keys and the more than fair price. Now, the manufacturer is joining the black model with a new white color scheme in two sizes: the Sharkoon PureWriter RGB White and the Sharkoon PureWriter RGB TKL White.
Sharkoon PureWriter RGB White in detail
Sharkoon Technologies has unveiled a new edition of its popular PureWriter gaming keyboard with low-profile keys. The Sharkoon PureWriter RGB White in full 100 percent layout and the smaller Sharkoon PureWriter RGB TKL White.
From a purely technical point of view, the two keyboards do not differ from each other, but they do differ in size. The three-block version comes with four additional multimedia keys above the number pad for easy volume control and opening your own mailbox. The PureWriter TKL RGB, on the other hand, is an ultra-compact keyboard without a numpad, designed for multiple uses and high mobility.
Common to both variants is the continuously adjustable RGB lighting and the technology designed for gaming. As the name already suggests, the manufacturer also targets frequent typists with the keyboard. They want to inspire them with a convincing typing feel and ultra-flat low-profile keys.
Two Kalih switch types to choose from
Offered are the new Sharkoon PureWriter RGB White and the TKL variant with two different switch types from Kalih. The red Kailh switches are characterized by the shorter distance to the switching point of only 1.5 mm and work linearly without feedback, as well as quietly.
They are joined by the blue clicky switches, which combine the same switching point with tactile and audible feedback. They are supposed to provide a real typewriter feeling and definitely have the edge in our eyes in terms of feel – at least when the click noise isn’t disturbing in the office environment.
The flat low-profile keys also make for comfortable handling. The height of the keycaps is only 6.2 millimeters. The low strain on the wrists enables ergonomic working at home and in the office.
RGB settings without software
Another advantage of the Sharkoon PureWriter RGB series: the illumination can be conveniently adjusted using key combinations. No accompanying software is needed for this. Thus, the keyboards can be illuminated in various effects, and the effects can also be adjusted as desired.
Practical: Manufacturer Sharkoon includes two detachable micro USB cables in different lengths with the keyboards. One of 50 centimeters length and one of 150 centimeters length. Thus, practical cable management is always possible on the desk as well.
