Shokz is expanding its portfolio of open audio solutions and is launching two new open-ear clip-on earbuds, OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air, on the German market. The models combine a particularly lightweight design with innovative audio technologies and are designed to provide a comfortable listening experience both in everyday life and during sporting activities. In addition to improved sound quality, Shokz relies on intelligent microphone technology, long battery life and an ergonomic wearing concept.

  • New open-ear clip-on design weighing only around 6.3 grams per earbud
  • OpenDots 2 with Bassphere™ 2.0, MirrorPitch™ and Dolby Audio
  • Bluetooth 6.1 and multipoint connections for two devices simultaneously
  • Up to 40 hours of battery life including charging case for the OpenDots 2

Shokz OpenDots 2 relies on new technologies for better sound and more comfort

With the new OpenDots models, Shokz continues to pursue the goal of combining high-quality audio with an open wearing concept. The focus is on the so-called JointArc™ structure, which was specially developed for a comfortable fit. A flexible nickel-titanium alloy ensures an even clamping force, while the liquid silicone coating increases wearing comfort. Despite the stable construction, a single earbud weighs just 6.4 grams for the OpenDots 2 and 6.3 grams for the OpenDots Air.

The open design allows ambient noise to be heard. This approach is particularly suitable for use in road traffic, when commuting or during sporting activities where complete shielding of the surroundings is not desired.

For sound reproduction, Shokz relies on the new Bassphere™ 2.0 technology for the OpenDots 2. The 11.8-millimetre drivers with optimized membrane structure are designed to significantly reduce distortion compared to the previous generation and at the same time enable more precise bass reproduction. This is complemented by MirrorPitch™ technology, which directs the sound into the ear canal via the natural ear geometry. This creates a fuller sound image while minimizing sound loss to the outside.

Shokz OpenDots 2 offers modern communication and long battery life

In addition to audio playback, Shokz has also further developed voice communication. The OpenDots 2 has a triple microphone system per earbud. Two air conduction microphones are supplemented by an additional bone conduction microphone. This combination is designed to capture voices more precisely and filter out disturbing ambient noise more effectively. According to the manufacturer, the voice quality remains stable even at wind speeds of up to 20 km/h.

Another new feature is the force sensor control. In contrast to classic touch surfaces, the system reacts to pressure inputs and thus reduces accidental operations that can be caused by sweat or unintentional touches, for example.

Both models are also state-of-the-art in terms of connectivity. Bluetooth 6.1 and multipoint pairing enable simultaneous connection with two devices. The OpenDots 2 achieves up to ten hours of music playback per charge or up to 40 hours with a charging case. The OpenDots Air offers up to nine hours or 36 hours including charging case. There are also quick-charging functions that provide additional hours of playback time after just a few minutes.

With protection classes of IP57 for the OpenDots 2 and IP55 for the OpenDots Air, the earbuds are also protected against sweat and water and are therefore designed for active everyday use.

Conclusion

With the OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air, Shokz is expanding its range of open audio solutions with two technically interesting models. The flagship OpenDots 2 in particular impresses on paper with its innovative audio technology, intelligent microphone configuration and long battery life. The new open-ear clip-on earbuds have been available in Germany since June 4, 2026. The recommended retail price is 199 euros for the OpenDots 2 and 139 euros for the OpenDots Air.
