Shure MV6 Gen 2 Unveiled: USB Gaming Microphone with Smarter Auto-Level and a New White Color Option

Shure has unveiled the MV6 Gen 2, the second generation of its USB gaming microphone. The update includes a customizable auto-level mode, an adjustable real-time denoiser, and—for the first time—an all-white color option. The product launched on September 30, 2026, with a suggested retail price of 185 euros.

With the MV6 Gen 2, Shure is expanding its MOTIV digital portfolio and continues to target gamers, streamers, and content creators who want to upgrade from a headset microphone to more professional broadcast equipment on a relatively modest budget. The first generation of the MV6 launched in 2024 for 149 euros. With this successor, the price has increased by 36 euros, but the range of features has also expanded significantly.

What’s new with the MV6 Gen 2?

Technically, the MV6 Gen 2 continues to rely on Shure’s Voice Isolation technology, which already reduced background noise in the first generation. What’s new is that two key audio functions can now be adjusted more precisely, rather than simply being on or off as before:

  • Customizable Auto-Level Mode: Users can determine for themselves how prominent their own voice sounds in the mix and how quickly the microphone reacts to sudden changes in volume. A slow setting ensures a smooth, podcast-like sound, while a fast setting more reliably captures sudden exclamations during intense gaming moments.
  • Adjustable real-time denoiser: A slider lets you control how much ambient sound is preserved in the stream—for example, to specifically dampen fan noise or keyboard clicks, or to intentionally allow for a more natural sound.

Shure attributes the change to user feedback on the first generation. “Gamers and streamers aren’t audio engineers—and they shouldn’t have to be to sound good,” says T. Banks, Product Manager at Shure. “With the MV6 Gen 2, intelligent audio processing takes place directly in the microphone. It automatically balances volume peaks and reduces distracting ambient noise without requiring any additional adjustments.”

Features: EQ, Presets, and More Cables

A 5-band EQ is also available to customize your sound, complemented by the simpler “Dark,” “Natural,” and “Bright” presets. Three intelligent audio presets for speech, vocals, and instruments automatically adjust Auto-Level mode, the denoiser, and the digital pop filter to suit the respective application. The digital “Popper Stopper” reduces plosive sounds such as “P” and “B” sounds, aided by the mechanical design of the microphone capsule.

The microphone itself features a 3.5-mm headphone jack for latency-free monitoring, as well as a Tap-to-Mute button with a multicolor LED indicator. Included in the package are a two-meter USB-C cable (a significant improvement over the shorter cable in the first generation) and a desktop stand with a vibration-isolating base. Thanks to its 5/8-inch thread, the MV6 Gen 2 also fits on standard microphone stands.

Software: Settings Travel With You

Sound adjustments can be made in the free MOTIV apps for desktop, tablet, and smartphone and saved directly to the microphone itself. This ensures that your custom sound settings are preserved when switching between your PC, tablet, and smartphone. This is convenient for anyone who switches their setup back and forth between home office calls, streaming, and podcast recording.

Price and Availability

The Shure MV6 Gen 2 has been available since September 30, 2026, for an MSRP of 185 euros via shure.com and authorized retailers. The new white version is also available in Europe through Amazon and is listed directly by Shure in Germany. The MOTIV apps support the new model right from the start.

Conclusion: Who Should Upgrade?

If you’re already streaming with a good USB microphone, you don’t need to switch just yet because of the new controls. Greater control over auto-level and the denoiser is a useful update, but not a reason to replace a setup that’s already working. For anyone who has been recording with a headset mic, however, the MV6 Gen 2 is an obvious first step toward broadcast-quality sound.

At its core, the MV6 Gen 2 remains a dynamic USB microphone with broadcast DNA from the SM7 and MV7 series. The main new feature is that it can be adapted more flexibly to your own voice and environment, at a price that falls between entry-level USB microphones and Shure’s more expensive MV7 models.
