Six new functions for the Corona-Warn-App

The Corona Warning App has been available for several months now and is now to be expanded with new functions.

Not official yet

It is planned to add new functions to the app by spring 2021. For the time being, there will be six more and then gradually more will be added. Officially, the new features have not yet been confirmed. The information about enhancements comes from the magazine Business Insider, they looked at the whole thing. A major update to version 1.5 was released a few days ago and more are planned.

A new update almost every month

The first new function is a kind of reminder, which asks the user to enter his test result into the app and share it. The so-called “reminder function” is to be introduced by the end of the month, as it has been noticed that people are reluctant to enter their results. With version 1.7, which is also planned for this month, the warning app will be faster. This means that data synchronization will no longer take place only once a day as before, but several times a day. So the app will be able to warn much faster when a contact occurs. Statistics for the app will be available in December 2020. Version 1.8 will focus on the usage of the app, which is to be increased and users are to be encouraged to call up the app more often.

Until the end of February, version 1.10 will include a progress control. Not for the course of the disease, but over the encounters. This should make it easier to understand who, when and where had an encounter with a positively tested person. With the same version comes the contact diary, which is also intended for tracking the encounters. The update to version 1.10 will therefore be much bigger. Here the visits to the restaurant for example will be simplified. Users will no longer have to fill out a piece of paper with their contact details, but can simply scan a QR code. The visit will then be stored in the app and in case of a corona infection in the respective restaurant, all visitors will be informed about the incident directly by the warning app. There will also be more in the language selection (French, Arabic and Russian).
