ŠKODA presents Plug & Charge for ENYAQ

With Plug & Charge, owners of a ŠKODA ENYAQ will be offered another exciting feature by the manufacturer. This should ensure that the charging process is even faster. The prerequisite for this is membership of the so-called Powerpass.

Plug in the charging cable and charging begins

ŠKODA presented Plug & Charge as part of a press release. All newly manufactured models in the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV series will be able to enjoy the feature ex works. Indeed, it is they that have the latest ME3 software, which makes Plug & Charge possible. The big advantage of the feature is that you don’t have to pull out the app or charging card when charging. Instead, it should be enough to simply connect the ŠKODA ENYAQ to the charging station using the charging cable. Charging then begins automatically. However, people who already call a ŠKODA ENYAQ their own need not fear being left out. According to the Czech automaker, older models of the e-SUV will also get the new feature via over-the-air update.

Powerpass is a prerequisite on the ŠKODA ENYAQ

In addition to software compatibility, the driver should also be a member of Powerpass. The corresponding app can then also be used to locate charging stations that support the new feature. Among others, well-known providers such as IONITY are to be involved. According to ŠKODA, other partners are to follow. It is also important to register your vehicle in the MyŠKODA app. Without this registration, nothing works at all, as the plug & charge function must first be activated here.

If all this doesn’t seem quite kosher, ŠKODA also reassures you directly. The procedure is supposed to run according to the latest security standards. Incidentally, a corresponding invoice for the kWh used each month is issued at the end of each month. This makes the E-SUV increasingly interesting. In particular, the RS version of the Skoda Enyaq iV Coupé with 299 hp should make the hearts of many e-car fans beat faster. However, it cannot compete with the Kia EV6 GT, which will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2022.
