Skullcandy Mod True Wireless: Cheap in-ears with 34 hours runtime

Manufacturer Skullcandy is known for its unique headphones. In March, they presented various models in the 90s look, while the Indy ANC convinced in our test in August 2021. Now they are launching a new model with the Skullcandy Mod True Wireless. For only 60 euros and with a whopping 34 hours of battery life.

For the MSRP of just 59.99 euros, the Skullcandy Mod True Wireless put together a pretty impressive overall package. Despite the compact size, the battery life of 34 hours turns out more than respectable. This is made up of 7 hours for the Earbuds and another 27 hours in the charging case. Thanks to Quick Charge, 10 minutes in the case are enough for two hours of music playback.

In addition, the TWS Earbuds also allow simultaneous connection with two audio devices thanks to Multi-Point and can even be used individually in mono mode. They also offer a so-called “Stay Aware” mode, in which ambient noise is amplified through when both in-ears are worn. This is a classic transparency mode, but there is unfortunately no active noise cancellation (ANC).

The Mod True Wireless also aim to do a lot right sonically thanks to 6mm drivers and an impedance of 16 ohms, while the sound can be further customized thanks to an equalizer in the companion app. Here you can also freely customize the operation.

Bluetooth 5.2 and smart features

Wirelessly radio the Skullcandy Mod True Wireless in the latest Bluetooth 5.2 standard, which promises a long range and secure connection. Thanks to novel Clear Voice Smart microphones should also be able to convince the voice reproduction during phone calls, as ambient noise is effectively filtered out.

The Earbuds are also IP55 protected against sweat and water and offer a Tile search function, which we already know from the manufacturer’s Indy ANC, for example. Back then, we wrote in the test report:

After you have created a Tile account and paired the headphones, the current location of the Earbuds is displayed to an accuracy of about 10 meters and that both in the off state (last position) or in a closed charging case.

The Skullcandy Mod True Wireless are available now directly from the manufacturer for an MSRP of 59.99 euros in black color. Amazon lists the chic in-ears at the same price with a release date of August 01, 2022.
