Sonos and IKEA: Symfonisk table lamp and new radio program

Sonos and IKEA continue their cooperation, which has existed for several years, and have presented the latest version of the table lamp Symfonisk, which is supposed to convince with an integrated speaker. Can be played through this also the now expanded radio program of Sonos.

Modular design of the table lamp

The new lamp speaker is clearly based on its predecessor models and is correspondingly visually strongly reminiscent of conventional table lamps. The speaker thus remains hidden and is intended to integrate as discreetly as possible into the existing living room furnishings. The lamp is composed of a frame, in which the speaker is integrated, and a lampshade. Both elements of the device are offered in different designs, which can be freely combined. Thus, it should be possible to adapt the lamp to one’s own wishes and the previous furnishings. The frame of the lamp is offered in a white as well as in a black version, while in the shade there are four different variants to choose from – one black and one white textile as well as glass version each.

Features the lamp is further equipped with an E26/E27 socket, which can accommodate different bulbs. There is also the option to equip it with a smart bulb and thus integrate it into smart home systems. Meanwhile, the speaker can be paired with other Sonos products without any problems, as it does not technically differ from them. This also means that Sonos’ well-known Multiroom system is supported and more than 100 music streaming services can be accessed.

Sonos expands radio offering

Also available with the speaker integrated into the lamp is the radio program produced by Sonos. Here the company has announced a significant expansion: Twenty new stations are to be available in the near future, tailored to the wishes of different target groups. These are to include, for example, a station designed by Erykah Badu, which will play mainly psychedelic funk, soul, classic rock, spiritual jazz and experimental hip-hop. A station hosted by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was also announced.

Prices and availability

The new product is expected to be available at IKEA from mid-November. Prices are said to be 130 euros for the lamp stand with integrated speaker and 20 or 30 euros for the shade. However, they have not yet been officially confirmed.
