Sony presents smartphone Xperia 10 V

Sony has introduced a new mid-range smartphone with the Xperia 10 V, which is supposed to convince with its handiness, a strong camera and optimization for video playback.

Compact and light

Sony aggressively promotes the Xperia 10 V as the world’s lightest 5G smartphone. The device actually weighs only 159 grams. That ensures that it is not annoying on the go – a real rarity in times of increasingly bigger and chunkier smartphones. The smartphone’s slim frame also contributes to this. Nevertheless, the Xperia 10 V is well equipped. For example, it has a powerful battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh that is supposed to guarantee uninterrupted video playback of up to 34 hours. In addition, there is a robust OLED display made of Gorilla Glass and a camera with three lenses.

Visually, the new Xperia 10 V is not only supposed to impress with its daintiness, but also with its colors. It is available in lavender, sage green, white and black. Thus, it perfectly matches the new wireless headphones WF-C700N, which are offered in the same color variants. Sony wants to enable a uniform look this way.

Display and camera

The already mentioned OLED display measures 6.1 inches diagonally and resolves in FullHD. It is about 1.5 times brighter than the display of the previous model and thus better suited for outdoor use. Sony also states that the display used is optimized for video playback. For this, a cover with a stand is offered in addition to the smartphone. This is color-coordinated with the phone and functions as a holder that enables comfortable video playback with use of the front stereo speakers. However, it has to be purchased separately.

Of course, this does not apply to the camera. The main camera on the back is equipped with three lenses (16 mm with f/2.2 aperture, 26 mm with f/1.8 aperture and 54 mm with f/2.2 aperture), which should enable taking pictures of all kinds. The wide-angle lens is equipped with a new image sensor that can capture more light than the previous model. This should allow high-quality photos to be taken even in dark environments. Furthermore, the camera offers another useful function for high-quality pictures with optical image stabilization.

The front camera of the Xperioa 10 V comes with a hand shutter release as a special feature. The shutter release is activated when the palm is turned towards the camera. Thus, it is no longer necessary to contort in order to press the shutter button and hold the camera at a suitable angle at the same time.

For video recording, the phone’s camera offers Optical SteadyShot, a combination of optical and electronic image stabilization for shake-free shots.

Price and Availability

The Xperia 10 V will be available for pre-order on June 1. The price is 449 euros. It will be shipped from mid-June.
