Sixth Color Variant According to Import Documents
As Notebookcheck reports, citing The Walkman Blog, a color currently referred to only as “G” appears in recent import documents. While gold would be the obvious choice, the specialized blog considers green more likely. The reason: Sony already offers green versions of the LinkBuds Clip and LinkBuds Fit, which could indicate a deliberate color coordination across its entire headphone portfolio. Official details or a release date are still pending, but early mockups already show what the WH-1000XM6 might look like in green.
Sony’s Color Offensive: From Sand Pink to Sandstone
New color variants have almost become a tradition for the WH-1000XM6. Just this past March, Sony expanded the lineup with the color Sand Pink, and only three months later, Sandstone followed as the second new color variant of the year. This means the headphones are currently available in five colors: Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue—which have been available since launch—plus Sand Pink and Sandstone. The premium sister model, the Sony 1000X The ColleXion, uses the same audio platform and was unveiled just recently. As recently as the end of June, both the WH-1000XM6 and The ColleXion received their own gaming modes via a firmware update.
Tried-and-true technology, new look
As expected, the technology is unlikely to change with a new color variant. Since its launch in May 2025, the WH-1000XM6 has relied on the QN3 HD processor with 12 microphones for active noise cancellation, supports the high-resolution LDAC codec as well as Bluetooth LE Audio, and, according to Sony, offers up to 30 hours of battery life with ANC enabled. The foldable design and the included carrying case have also remained unchanged from its predecessor, the WH-1000XM5. A new color would therefore primarily be a visual update, with which Sony is likely to further extend the product lifecycle of its flagship model.
Conclusion
Even though Sony itself has not yet provided official confirmation, a green version of the WH-1000XM6 fits well into the established pattern: The manufacturer has already released a new color variant roughly every three months this year. Anyone currently considering a purchase will therefore have to decide whether to go with one of the existing five colors or wait for the possible new green version.
