With the Xperia 1 II, Xperia 10 II and the Xperia L4, Sony plans to launch three new smartphones and thus revive its smartphone segment. The Xperia 1 II will be positioned as the company’s new flagship smartphone with fast 5G support. In contrast, the Xperia 10 II and Xperia L4 will serve as new mid-range and entry-level mobiles. All three devices feature a 21:9 display.
Sony Xperia 1 II: flagship smartphone with professional camera
The Sony Xperia 1 II has truly become a top class smartphone. Inside, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with X55 5G modes is one of the fastest mobile chips available. There are 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory (expandable via microSD) available. The 6.5-inch OLED panel in the aforementioned 21:9 display format also offers 4K resolution and HDR. Sony relies on a high-quality Zeiss triple camera consisting of three 12-megapixel lenses plus depth sensor: a 16 mm super wide angle lens, a 24 mm wide angle lens and a 70 mm telephoto lens. Professional features such as real-time tracking and real-time eye autofocus are also provided.
Sony Xperia 10 II: Attractive mid-range smartphone
With the Sony Xperia 10 II, Sony has dedicated itself to the mid-price segment. But in return you also get a technically powerful smartphone. Here the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor is used and a 6 inch OLED panel with Full HD+ (resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels) – also in 21:9 format. The Sony Xperia 10 II also features a triple camera, which provides a 16 mm super wide angle lens (12 MP), 26 mm wide angle lens (8 MP) and a 52 mm telephoto lens (12 MP). 4 GB RAM, 128 GB internal memory, a fingerprint sensor in the power button, Gorilla Glass 6, Bluetooth 5.0, 4K video recording and Android 10 round off the attractive overall package.
Sony Xperia L4: The entry-level model
The Sony Xperia L4 is intended as an entry-level model. Accordingly, it only comes up with the MediaTek 6762 processor. Interestingly, it offers a 6.2 inch FTF LCD panel with HD+ (resolution of 1,680 x 720 pixels). The camera consists of three lenses and is composed of a super wide angle lens (5 MP), a wide angle lens (13 MP) and a depth sensor (2 MP). Inside, 3 GB RAM and 64 GB memory are installed. Further features are a 3.5 mm jack, USB 3.1 Type-C, fingerprint sensor and NFC.

The recommended retail price of the Xperia 1 II is EUR 1,199 and it is expected to be on the market from June 2020. The recommended retail price of the Xperia 10 II is 369 euros and it is expected to be available from the second quarter of 2020. The recommended retail price of the Xperia L4 is 199 euros and it is also expected to be on the market from the second quarter of 2020.
