Sound Blaster Audigy Fx V2: New sound card released

Creative Technology has revealed that its new Sound Blaster Audigy Fx V2 sound card is available now. It is said to offer significantly improved sound over its predecessor and comes with an optional expansion card that allows the sound card to drive 7.1 systems.

Small sound miracle

Once again, the Audigy Fx V2 relies on Sound Blaster Acoustic Engine technology to deliver high-quality, cinema-quality 5.1 surround sound. In addition, the sound card is also capable of playing back high-resolution 24 bit / 192 kHz audio material. The connection with the integrated high-fidelity DAC, which offers a dynamic range of up to 120 dB, should ensure excellent audio quality. Specifically aimed at gamers is the so-called Scout mode, which can improve the acoustic localization in games.

The Audigy Fx V2 delivers discrete 5.1 channels for speakers and virtual 5.1 sound on headphones up to 600 ohms impedance. You can get even more with the optional Sound Blaster Audigy Fx V2 DB Pro expansion card. The upgrade enables 7.1 surround sound and DSD256 playback in high quality. It also adds an optical-out port to the existing connectivity options.

The Sound Blaster Audigy Fx V2 is about 16 percent smaller than its predecessor. Full-height and half-height slot brackets are included in the scope of delivery. This makes it easy to install even in particularly compact cases.

Thanks to SmartComms Kit, the sound card has intelligent functions that are designed to significantly simplify communication during telephone conferences and online chats. Features such as VoiceDetect, NoiseClean-In and NoiseClean-Out, for example, improve intelligibility in chats and effectively eliminate background noise.

The Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Fx V2 and Sound Blaster Audigy Fx V2 DB Pro expansion board (are available now from Creative’s online store at Creative.com MSRP for the sound card is 54.99 euros, while the expansion card adds another 17.99 euros.
