Sustainable smartphone Nokia G22 introduced

Nokia has presented a particularly sustainable smartphone with the Nokia G22. The device is partly made of recycled material and is supposed to be self-repairable without problems.

Long-lasting and made of recycled material

The new Nokia G22 is said to be much more durable than other smartphones thanks to good reparability. This means it fulfills a key sustainability aspect: the longer smartphones are used, the fewer new devices are needed – and this also reduces resource consumption. Nokia therefore wants to make access to replacement material as easy as possible. In addition, the company cooperates with iFixit to enable repairs at home without major technical knowledge. Thus, repair costs should no longer be a hurdle either.

In addition, Nokia relies partly on recycled material for the G22 – which is again particularly resource-friendly. For example, the back of the device is made entirely of recycled plastic. However, this does not apply to the rest of the smartphone. Overall, Nokia thus continues the path taken with the presentation of a circular rental model.

Focus on image and sound

In its promotion of the phone, Nokia focuses primarily on the image and sound experience, in addition to the sustainability aspect. The device is equipped with a 6.52-inch HD+ display that offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz and is supposed to be particularly resistant to environmental influences thanks to Gorilla Glass 3. Furthermore, the 50 MP camera of the Nokia G22 is supposed to provide special picture experiences. The pictures are controlled by high-end imaging algorithms. Different modes can be selected to achieve the best results in different environments. In terms of sound, Nokia relies on the OZO Playback technology in the G22, which is supposed to provide improved bass and clearer sound.

Meanwhile, the device is powered by the Unisoc T606 processor, which is supported by 4 GB of RAM. Other features include an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer and a fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM support and an internal storage of 64 or 128 GB, which can be expanded to one TB via microSD card as long as only one SIM card is used. The Nokia G22 is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, an eight MP front camera and IP52 certification.

Nokia G22: Price and Availability

The smartphone, which measures 165 x 76.19 x 8.48 millimeters and weighs 195 grams, will be available in Lagoon Blue as well as Meteor Grey color variants. It is not yet known when exactly it will be launched and what price will be called. In view of the price of the last introduced C31, which is similarly equipped, a rather low RRP is to be expected, though.
