TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4: Smartwatch with Snapdragon Wear 4100+ in two sizes

Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has officially unveiled the fourth version of its in-house Connected smartwatch. The new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ SoC and appears in both 42mm and 45mm sizes.

TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 in detail

Inside the new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 smartwatch, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor is at work, which we already know from the Fossil Gen 6 (our review). It is primarily characterized by a frugal co-processor, which is supposed to have a positive effect on the battery life.

It is not quite clear how long the battery life of the TAG Heuer premium watch is supposed to turn out. The manufacturer only talks about an all-day battery life despite continuous wellness tracking. In the case of the 45 mm model, the 430 mAh battery is supposed to last 30 percent longer than in the predecessor. The smartwatch is offered in 42 mm and 45 mm sizes.

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 has inherited the choice of high-quality materials and excellent workmanship. Depending on the selected model, the case is made of stainless steel or titanium. The bezel is made of ceramic and the watch glass is made of high-quality, scratch-resistant sapphire glass. As for the bracelets, there is a choice of metal, leather or rubber.

As for the displays, TAG Heuer installs OLED panels. That of the 45mm model comes in at 1.39 inches and offers a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, while the 42mm model comes in at 1.28 inches and 416 x 416 pixels. The Connected Calibre E4 communicates wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0, and Google’s Wear OS 2 is used as the operating system. An update to version 3 is already confirmed for later in the year, however.

Focus on health and fitness

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 clearly focuses on health and fitness tracking. In terms of sensors, a heart rate sensor, a gyroscope, a barometer and an accelerometer are offered. However, there is no blood oxygen saturation measurement or fall detection.

Communication via LTE without a connected smartphone is also not planned; the smartwatch only has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. However, fitness tracking at the highest level is promised and a variety of specially developed apps are offered.

For example, there are guided 7-minute workouts with animations and notifications for switching to the next exercise, as well as special apps for various sports – including running, cycling, swimming, fitness and golf. At the same time, the Connected Calibre E4 has special wellness apps, for example, to measure steps, calories burned and heart rate.

Prices and availability

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 will be released in a total of six variants. There are three 42mm models and three 45mm models to choose from. For the 42-mm model, the only choice is a stainless steel case, but there are three different bracelets to choose from.

The RRP for the rubber version starts at 1,700 euros, while the metal link bracelet costs 1,900 euros. A titanium case can also be selected for the 45 mm smartwatch, with prices ranging from 1,950 euros to 2,400 euros. Delivery will take place in the online store of TAG Heuer from March 08, 2022, while the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 will be available in free stores from March 10.
