Smart home manufacturer TP-Link is launching the Tapo P410M, a new outdoor plug that combines the latest technologies such as Matter compatibility, energy monitoring and robust weather resistance. The device is therefore aimed at anyone who wants to control outdoor lighting, pumps or other garden devices smartly and efficiently – without being dependent on a single ecosystem.
Highlights
- Weatherproof outdoor plug with IP54 protection and wide temperature range
- Matter compatibility for cross-platform smart home integration
- Energy monitoring including current flow detection – ideal for balcony power plants
- Simple setup via Bluetooth or Matter QR code
Smart control for garden, balcony and terrace
With the Tapo P410M, TP-Link is expanding its product line with an outdoor plug that has been specially designed for demanding environments. Thanks to IP54 certification, the plug is protected against dust and splash water and can withstand temperatures between -20 °C and +50 °C. This enables permanent outdoor use – whether on the balcony in winter or in the garden in summer. This makes the plug suitable for garden lighting, pool or pond pumps, outdoor sockets on the terrace or seasonal decorative lighting such as Christmas installations, for example.
The broad smart home compatibility is particularly interesting. The plug supports the Matter standard and can therefore be easily integrated into Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and SmartThings. This allows users to create manufacturer-independent automations – such as automatically switching on garden lighting at sunset or switching off certain devices at set times.
Matter integration also eliminates the need for an additional bridge or hub, making the P410M particularly attractive for beginners. TP-Link relies on a particularly quick and uncomplicated solution for setup: The initial installation is carried out via Bluetooth using the Tapo app or alternatively by scanning the Matter code. As soon as the plug is integrated into the network, it can be controlled via app, schedule, timer or voice assistant. The Wi-Fi connection is encrypted, which means that all data is transmitted securely.
Focus on security and energy efficiency
In addition to convenient control, TP-Link attaches particular importance to security and durable technology with the Tapo P410M. The plug has zero-crossing detection, which reduces electrical loads when switching. The relays are protected, voltage peaks are minimized and connected devices are protected. Nickel-plated contacts ensure high conductivity and corrosion resistance – a clear advantage for outdoor use, where moisture is a constant companion.
Further protective mechanisms such as overheating and overload protection as well as an integrated child safety lock round off the safety concept. In combination with the robust housing and UV-resistant materials, the plug is designed for long-term use. One highlight that should appeal to the technology and energy-saving community in particular is the integrated energy monitoring. The Tapo P410M measures the current energy consumption in real time and also detects the direction of the energy flow.
It measures whether electricity is being drawn or fed in. This makes the plug ideal for monitoring small balcony power plants or other regenerative systems in the garden or on the balcony. Users can use the Tapo app to analyze consumption data and create automations, such as automatically activating devices as soon as surplus solar power is available. This makes the plug not only convenient, but also a smart tool for energy optimization.
Price and availability
The Tapo P410M combines smart home flexibility with outdoor robustness and is therefore aimed at users who want to control outdoor areas intelligently and monitor energy consumption transparently at the same time. Thanks to Matter support, the plug works in almost any smart home ecosystem and also impresses with its security features and simple setup. The Tapo P410M is available now and costs € 24.90 *.
