Tapo S112: Compact smart switch module for more control in the connected home

With the new Tapo S112, TP-Link is expanding its smart home portfolio with a versatile flush-mounted module that transforms classic switch installations such as blinds, underfloor heating or ceiling lighting into smart, automatable control units. As a Matter-certified solution, the module can be seamlessly integrated into common smart home platforms and thus offers far more than just convenience – it enables targeted energy optimization and intelligent automation for modern households.

  • Control of blinds, heating and lighting via app, schedules or voice assistants
  • Dual relay for simultaneous control of two consumers or scenes
  • Matter-compatible, supports Apple Home, Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings and IFTTT
  • Power consumption monitoring with separate evaluation per relay

Versatile control for a wide variety of installations

The Tapo S112 is aimed at users who want to intelligently upgrade conventional electrical installations. Particularly noteworthy is the so-called “roller mode”, with which electric blinds and shutters can be conveniently controlled via app or voice command. Alternatively, automated time control is possible – for example, to open the shutters daily at sunrise or close them in the evening. Integrated obstacle detection provides additional security by stopping the movement immediately if resistance is detected.

Thanks to two smart relays, the S112 can also replace classic double switches – for example to control two lamps separately or to activate individual lighting scenarios. Underfloor heating or sockets can also be controlled smartly. The compact design (only 16.1 mm deep) makes it easy to retrofit into existing switch boxes – ideal for renovations or a gradual entry into the smart home.

Complete integration into the Tapo ecosystem

A key feature of the S112 is its deep integration into the Tapo ecosystem. In combination with sensors such as motion detectors or thermometers, it offers a wide range of automation options. For example, the lighting can be activated automatically as soon as a person enters the room, or blinds react to temperature changes. These scenarios can be easily configured via the Tapo app – even without in-depth technical knowledge.

The module also scores highly in terms of compatibility: in addition to TP-Link’s own platform, it also supports Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Samsung SmartThings and IFTTT. The Matter certification guarantees long-term future-proofing and cross-platform controllability.

The device is also flexible in terms of connectivity. It supports both 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Mesh, which means it works reliably even in difficult reception areas.

Transparent energy monitoring for greater efficiency

Another advantage of the Tapo S112 is the integrated consumption analysis: users receive detailed energy consumption statistics for each of the two relays – clearly presented with diagrams and consumption curves. This function helps to specifically identify energy-intensive devices and optimize their use, for example by shifting them to periods with lower tariffs. This not only increases convenience and control, but also reduces operating costs.

The module is also comprehensively equipped for safety reasons: it has overvoltage and overheating protection as well as automatic shutdown in the event of malfunctions.

Conclusion: Smart retrofit with a wide range of functions

The Tapo S112 shows how easy it is to integrate existing household installations into a modern smart home – without major modifications. With functions such as roller mode, dual relay, scene control and energy monitoring, the compact module offers a convincing combination of versatility, safety and user-friendliness.

The Tapo S112 is now available from the Tapo Store and Amazon at a price of €19.90 (RRP).
