Teamgroup MP44L: M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD with heat-dissipating graphene SSD label unveiled

The new PCIe 4.0 SSD in the M.2 form factor from Teamgroup comes with a real innovation. Because the Teamgroup MP44L relies on a novel cooling system that marks a premiere. The SSD label is equipped with a graphene copper foil that further improves cooling.

Teamgroup MP44L in detail

At first glance, the new Teamgroup MP44L is a standard M.2 SSD. The PCIe 4.0-standard SSD offers a read speed of 5,000 MB/s and a write speed of 4,500 MB/s and supports SLC cache technology, which offers more than twice the operating efficiency of Gen3 SSDs.

Excellent data transfer accuracy is also promised thanks to low-density parity check code (LDPC) technology, while Windows TRIM optimization commands and the latest NVMe 1.4 standard are supported.

With the NVM set allocation mechanism, PLM (Predictable Latency Mode) and the latest RRL (Read Recovery Level) technology, the latency of the SSD is significantly reduced. At the same time, however, this also increases the service life of the SSD storage, while wear and tear at high read and write speeds is to be significantly reduced.

And that then pays off in the long run. After all, researchers only recently found that SSDs cause more CO2 emissions than mechanical hard disks and can only make up for this penalty with a long lifetime.

Innovative cooling technology

What makes the Teamgroup MP44L so special, however, is the industry’s first SSD label with graphene copper foil. Less than 1mm thick, this heat-dissipating graphene SSD label is firmly adhered to the SSD to improve cooling.

“In addition, users can enjoy twice the cooling performance and increased stability of PCIe Gen4 without the need to install additional thermal devices when coupled with an M.2 slot heatsink,” the manufacturer promises.

The MP44L is offered in various capacities. From 250 GB to a maximum of 2 TB. The manufacturer states the average operating time, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF for short), at 1.5 million hours.

In terms of TBW (Total Bytes Written), the smallest model offers 200 TBW, the 2 TB SSD comes to 1,200 TBW, otherwise there is a 5-year warranty from the manufacturer.

Prices and availability

The Teamgroup MP44L should be available in stores by the end of August 2022 and will be sold exclusively on Amazon in this country. It starts at an MSRP of 49.99 euros for the 250 GB model. The 500 GB storage comes with an MSRP of 79.99 Euros, and the upgrade to 1 TB storage costs 135.99 Euros. The top model with a storage capacity of 2 TB has a recommended retail price of 287.99 euros. All details and specifications can be found on the official product website.
