TeamGroup T-FORCE Cardea A440: New PCIe SSD unveiled

The storage experts from TeamGroup have introduced a brand new SSD. The T-FORCE Cardea A440 is supposed to be a high-performance M.2 SSD with the latest PCIe Gen4. The heart of the blazingly fast Cardea is said to be the Phison E18 controller. The speeds according to the manufacturer’s specifications show that we are in for a promising SSD. In addition to 7,000 MB/s in reading, the PCIe SSD is supposed to be able to reach speeds of up to 6,900 MB/s in writing.

Two storage sizes to choose from

TeamGroup wants to offer its new SSD in a choice of 1 TB and 2 TB sizes. As is so common, the speeds also differ depending on the size – at least when writing. If you want the maximum of 6,900 MB/s for writing, you will have to go for the 2 TB model. However, the 1 TB version is by no means a lame snail. Here TeamGroup speaks of still very fast write speeds of 5,500 MB/s.

Choose between copper or aluminum cooling

So that the SSD does not get too hot under workload, Teamgroup gives the A440 a similar cooling technology as the Cadera Z440. Thus, Teamgroup also relies on a foil here, which provides appropriate cooling as a graphite-copper cooler. A decisive difference, however, is that Teamgroup makes alternatives possible for the A440’s cooling. You can also use an aluminum-based cooler as an option. You should be able to profit from a 15 percent stronger cooling performance. However, those who opt for the aluminum alternative have to reckon with an increase in height of almost 13 mm. This could lead to space problems in tight systems.

Price and availability

The new T-FORCE Cardea A440 is scheduled to launch in the US in May this year. For the version with 1 TB of storage, TeamGroup is asking for an MSRP of $229. The 2 TB version is to go on sale at an MSRP of 429 US dollars. We do not yet know when the new SSD will hit the shelves in Germany.
