Telekom, Congstar and Vodafone make calls to Ukraine free of charge

Telekom, its subsidiary Congstar and Vodafone are temporarily making calls and text messages to and from Ukraine free of charge. Roaming charges for people staying in Ukraine are also currently waived.

Telekom, Congstar and Vodafone make calls to Ukraine free

As Deutsche Telekom, its subsidiary Congstar and Vodafone announce, phone calls to Ukraine, as well as SMS can currently be sent free of charge. There are also currently no costs on the reverse route. Roaming charges for people in Ukraine are also to be eliminated.

“Until further notice” on calls and SMS both from the mobile network, as well as from the fixed network no costs are to result. The offer applies to both private and fixed network customers. “For what is currently happening in Ukraine, we lack the words”, writes Telekom on Twitter.

Vodafone followed just a few hours after Deutsche Telekom. “The situation in Ukraine makes us deeply concerned. Our thoughts are with those who must suffer in these hours under fear, war and destruction,” a spokesman told heise online.

Through the Vodafone Foundation, up to 500,000 euros would also be donated to aid organizations in the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary. This is intended to support refugees from Ukraine to surrounding countries.

Telefónica Germany has not yet commented on a comparable action on the occasion of the war in Ukraine, but a response is expected here in a timely manner.

Also in Austria

Also in Austria, phone calls and SMS to Ukraine, as well as out of the country will be temporarily free. The offer applies to customers of Drei, as well as of market leader A1 and its sub-brands yesss!, bob and XOXO. Calls from the fixed network are also possible with Drei and A1 without any charges being levied.

Data roaming is also not charged for A1 customers in Ukraine. At Drei, the offer is initially valid until March 24, at A1 until the promotion is revoked. In Austria, the offer also applies to business rates, but only for private use.
