Tesla: recall due to faulty taillights and airbags

Tesla has bad news again, which should not only annoy the customers of the electric car manufacturer. The company itself is probably in the worst mood. After all, the Model 3, Y, X and S are already making some negative headlines at the moment anyway. This time, it’s said to be about problems with airbags and rear lighting. A recall involving 300,000 vehicles is the result.

Software update at Tesla should fix problem

Things were going brilliantly for Tesla until a few months ago. For example, the company set a new earnings record in late January. Given the Corona pandemic, which was a game-changing event for society and the economy, that’s anything but a given. But the winning streak seems to have come to an abrupt end for some time now. Just a few days ago, for example, we reported that a Tesla Model Y was involved in an accident in southern China, which claimed the lives of two people. According to initial experts, the controversial Autopilot or the vehicle’s braking system could be at least partly to blame. The problem that has now become known affects almost 321,000 vehicles of the brand. The focus is on the Model 3 and Model Y taillights. These are said to switch off temporarily and unintentionally.

But that’s not all. The high-priced luxury models in the form of Model S and Model X are apparently also having problems. Almost 30,000 vehicles are said to have a problem with the airbag on the passenger side. Fortunately, the two problems according to the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration have not yet led to accidents. So Tesla is responding in a timely manner. Thanks to its over-the-updates, however, recalls are far more convenient and less expensive for Tesla than for other automakers. Thus, all problems should be able to be fixed straightforwardly via a software update. This makes it all the more annoying to Tesla and the manufacturer’s fans that people talk about a recall. After all, this term has negative connotations.
