The Biktrix XD is set to revolutionize the e-bike

While revolutionary new developments in the field of electric cars seem to reach the public on a weekly basis, e-bikes have been rather quiet. This now seems to be changing. Manufacturer Biktrix has developed a completely new motor that takes humans as its role model and is intended to put conventional e-bikes in the shade.

A humanoid drive

Conventional bicycle drives rely on a chain. This is just as much the case with a bicycle without a motor as it is with modern e-bikes. This is now to change with the Biktrix XD. This is namely a mid-mounted motor that makes use of another one in addition to the classic chain. The power of the built-in motor is then not transferred to the normal chain, but to the second. Thus the pedaling of the cyclist takes place independently of the work of the engine. According to the manufacturer, this is based on the human movement concept. One chain corresponds to one leg. On the right side of the Biktrix XD is the “normal” bicycle chain. On the left side of the bike, it is in turn supplemented by the second chain.

Development and production in Canada

The entirely new concept is reflected above all in an immense increase in power. Up to 2,000 watts and a torque of 300 Nm are said to be possible. Of course, the increase in power is particularly noticeable in the maximum speed.

As a result, the test bike, which Biktrix equipped with its novel motor, was able to reach a whopping 65 mph. However, this was designed to get the most out of the motor. The production-ready model from Biktrix, called the Juggernaut XD, is supposed to reach a whopping 50 km/h. The whole thing is manufactured in Canada.

Quasi unsuitable for Europe

This may sound really tempting on paper for fans of e-bikes. But then you have to accept a few drops of bitterness. After all, there is a requirement in Europe that an e-bike must not exceed a maximum speed of 25 km/h. Furthermore, the electrically powered bike must not have more than 250 watts of power. Both specifications are broken by the Biktrix XD. The question here is whether Biktrix will also offer its bike produced in Canada in Europe. For this, one would certainly have to make appropriate adjustments.

UVP from 6,000 US dollars

In the USA, however, the Juggernaut XD is definitely to be launched. Here, the manufacturer promises a choice of two different frame sizes. In addition to the thick tires, the air suspension on the front fork also makes it clear that this is a genuine premium-class e-mountain bike. In addition to the 10-speed gears, the bike also comes with a battery with a choice of 48 V or 52 V. The battery capacity is said to be up to 1.5 kW. The battery capacity should be up to 1,300 Wh. By the way, the price is also premium with a proud price starting at 6,000 US dollars. However, those who have the necessary change should have a lot of fun here.
