Two lenses for wide-angle and telephoto
The biggest difference from the previous Pocket series is in the name: the “P” stands for two lenses. The primary wide-angle lens sits in front of an all-new 1-inch CMOS sensor (20 mm focal length, f/2.0 aperture). Thanks to LOFIC technology, it achieves a dynamic range of 17 f-stops and records video at up to 4K/240 fps. The second lens is a 60-mm medium telephoto lens with a large f/1.8 aperture. It offers 3x optical zoom and up to 12x digital zoom. 17 f-stops and the new 10-bit D-Log 2
For color grading, DJI is introducing the new 10-bit D-Log 2 profile with the Osmo Pocket 4P. It captures over a billion colors and, in combination with the 17 f-stops, preserves a wealth of detail in both highlights and shadows. This provides more flexibility for color correction in post-production, resulting in smoother tonal transitions.
For fast-moving subjects, the camera records slow-motion footage in 4K at 240 fps—equivalent to 8x Ultra HD slow motion. If you’re looking for the opposite effect, you can use long-exposure shots to capture light trails and motion blur. Photos can be taken at up to 37 megapixels, and there’s also a 4K Live Photo feature that automatically records a 1.5-second clip with every photo.
Stabilization, ActiveTrack 8.0, and Handling
Despite having a second lens, the camera weighs only 230 grams. The mechanical 3-axis gimbal draws on DJI’s Ronin experience and keeps footage steady. The revamped ActiveTrack 8.0 reliably tracks people, vehicles, pets, or unusually shaped objects in the center of the frame, even at 12x zoom.
A few practical features come in handy for everyday use: A twist of the touchscreen turns the camera on and starts recording, and ActiveTrack can be triggered with a hand gesture (open palm or “V” sign). The camera transfers footage via USB 3.1 at speeds of up to 800 MB/s. The battery charges from 0 to 80 percent in 18 minutes and lasts up to 210 minutes on a full charge.
