Thermaltake Wireless W1: Wireless gaming keyboard presented

With the Wireless W1 keyboard, Taiwanese gaming specialist Thermaltake presents a model equipped with Cherry MX mechanical switches.

Connectivity and basic equipment

The wirelessly usable device can be connected to the PC not only via 2.4 GHz connection, but also via Bluetooth. When using a 2.4 GHz connection, the battery lasts for around 1.5 months. Meanwhile, the signal range is about ten meters. Those who use Bluetooth only have to recharge the battery every 2.5 months and can connect the keyboard to up to three devices at the same time.

The heart of the new keyboard is the mechanical Cherry MX switches. Users can choose between the red and blue switches from the well-known manufacturer here, whereby the blue variant is more tactile, while the red variant is smoother and triggers sooner. Both switches available for selection last for around 50 million strokes each. In addition, there are PBT keycaps, which are supposed to prevent unintentional double presses and similar actions with their impressive texture. The basic equipment also includes an ergonomic palm rest.

Other functions and equipment features

Extras include a gaming mode that can be activated at the touch of a button. Once said mode is active, the Windows keys are disabled to prevent accidental exiting of the game. In addition, Thermaltake’s new keyboard features multimedia keys located in the upper right corner.

Price and Availability

In the US, the new Wireless W1 keyboard is available now. It costs around $110 there. The device comes with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
