TikTok escapes download stop in the USA

At the very last moment, the popular video app Tiktok escaped the download stop in the USA.

Court suspends download stop

On Sunday a court in Washington suspended the download stop for the app. This came just in time for the announced video app. Tiktok was on the verge of disappearing from the Apple and Google app stores. The order of the US government to stop the video service was suspended for the time being by a judge via a temporary injunction,

But time is still running out for TikTok!

On November 12, 2020, the app will actually be discontinued. TikTok therefore submitted a further application on Sunday and wanted to stop the US government’s action on the same date. However, the court in Washington rejected this request.

TikTok had applied for an injunction against the order of the U.S. Department of Commerce a few days ago in order to avert the impending damage. The effects of the download stop would already have been felt today. The previous users of the app could continue to use it, but it would not have been possible to download it again.

The responsible judge of the Washington court wanted both sides to reach an agreement on the coming course of events, and the U.S. Department of Commerce is bowing to the interim injunction for the time being, but remains stubborn. It wants to maintain its pace in the main proceedings.

What the future looks like for the video app is hard to say.

TikTok belongs to the Chinese company Bytedance, so it is also considered a security risk by US President Donald Trump.

The fears of Trump are that the data of US citizens will be transferred to China and this should be stopped.

A short time ago it looked like an agreement in the dilemma. But this is very uncertain at the moment.

The US companies Oracle and Walmart should take over TikTok, with Orakle taking care of the workmanship of the data. However, the companies still disagree on this. President Trump wants to push the Chinese parent company out completely, but Bytedance won’t let him do that with him.

TikTok represents a security risk!

The American government still sees a risk in TikTok, even though they promise to secure the data of US users in the USA.

So it remains exciting!
